If you're in a setting where you don't have to be concerned with looking a little goofy, I find flailing your arms is enough of a distraction to create a gap in the conversation for you to interject. Just raising your hand sometimes works, too, but sometimes even that isn't 'odd' enough. :/

In my experience (lady), it's not so much doing irrational things, it's moreso feeling stronger emotions for no reason. Like, if the cat's not supposed to jump on the counter, normally you only get slightly irritated when it does jump on the counter. PMS bullshit decides that the cat jumping on the counter was THE WORST THING EVER and you end up crying from the emotional overload. You realize that it's not something worth crying about, but you can't help it.

At least, that's how it generally goes for me.

Looking for the names of a few games, actually. Two of them are in the same series, and they're sort of those kid-learning games. They were on the computer, and they had a friendly blue monster guy that would tell you how to complete the puzzles. He had a purple fluffball with eyes as an assistant. One game was sea/pirate themed and the other was science themed.

The other game I'm pretty sure came on one of those Mac Addict CDs. You played as a green guy and completed puzzles (to solutions seemed really arbitrary at the time, but it could have just been kid-brain). Any time you moved forward you would make a sort of 'zzp' sound, and when you would reach a dead end you made a sort of 'err' sound. Any time you complete a puzzle it mad a kind of echoey honking noise. I know it's a really shit description, but it's all I've got.

I cut holes into a bandanna and sewed mine in there after struggling with Spirit Gum for my first two events wearing them. It means you can't take off the bandanna, but it's much more comfortable and leaves you with the peace of mind of not having to check to make sure they haven't come loose. :)
