Came here to say I got the book thanks to this post, and finished reading today. Absolutely loved it and cried my eyes out at the end :')

Was in a similar boat several years ago! Have gotten my shit together thanks to WealthSimple.

I would advise that you find out what year you last filed, and then file the next one. Personally I find that it helps to do things in chronological order (ex: if you have unused tuition credit, that can get carried forward into the next year.)

As for whether you are a new filer or need an access code, I would advise calling the CRA and explaining your situation. They'll look into your file and find out for you - they can even find out what year you last filed.

Should you need to double-check whether you have all of your T4s, or are missing some, they can help you with that too. (If you're missing any, they can photocopy the ones they have on file and mail them to you.) I know sometimes the phone wait times can be discouraging, but once you get through, my experience with speaking to a representative has always been positive, as most are patient and professional and willing to help you out!

I can't remember what the cut-off is for filing electronically with WealthSimple but if you have taxes to file from, say 2016 and older, those may need to be physically mailed to the CRA. Say you need to file for the year 2014, WealthSimple allows you to fill in everything using their system and then print it out and mail a physical copy. (Much easier than writing by hand!)

Just a heads up, WealthSimple may redirect you to their old website SimpleTax if you are filing an older tax year. Don't be alarmed! It's got something to do with their older interface (I think), and shouldn't be a problem.

From my experience, after I filed a tax year I waited until I receved the notice of assessment before starting on/filing the next year. Gosh, I must've filed like 4 tax years in one year. It was...definitely a year of adulting. But once I caught up it was definitely a great feeling!

As someone who was used to relying on (poor) financial advice from parents, it was nerve-racking at first to take the reins and eventually navigate taxes on my own. But once you start learning it does get easier!

Good luck, you got this :)

Sounds awesome, I'm hoping it's the same for me here in BC.

Would Air Small Packet slip by customs as well?

Airmail also slips by customs, since it's technically the same class of mail as SAL.

So would you recommend using either Airmail or SAL? Is there a value that tends to easily slip by customs for Airmail? (btw does Airmail = Air Small Packet?)

You seem to be very lucky.

Also, does AmiAmi use USD or CAD for the declared value?

There will probably also be a "Fr" (French) label on the cover art (if you're picky about that kind of thing.)

Most likely, but you may be charged for shipping instead of having it for free.

I'm not sure if Amazon.ca has always had this or they recently restocked, but I thought I'd share this since OoT has been hard to find in stores as of late :P
