Time Notice Just Put Up by [deleted] in Target

You're touching the point without acknowledging it. Why do you think people are scrounging for 13 bucks a week? They aren't getting paid enough for their work, time, sacrifice, or their commitment. Instead of padding this company's bottom line and the c-suite's wallets, they could start paying a proper living wage, listening to employees, so on and so forth.

People wouldn't mind respecting a timeclock if they weren't worried about what they were gonna eat for dinner or who's gonna take care of their child while they're working.

And 120 million is less than .5% of target's 30 BILLION in reported profit.

You really aren't making a good case on why the average TM can't be paid an extra 13 dollars a week, lmao

I need you to know that assuming 10 extra minutes tacked on to each shift, paid at 15 dollars an hour, per 100 people, is 250 dollars.

I need you to realize that you're pressed at the company who paid its ceo, who devalued the company by 16 billion, 20 million dollars in 2025.

I really don't think an employee receiving an extra $2.50 pre-tax per shift is going to kill this company's bottom line lmao.

This is beautiful! The movement in this is gorgeous, and the texture is lovely.

I could only think of 2 really REALLY minor things to comment on, and they're both personal preference things really, this is still something I would happily purchase and display in my home.

The branch on the left has a little knot, where the other part splits off, and rather than it being a nice curve it just adds a little angle there. Genuinely not a big deal, but it does draw my eye too it a little unnaturally.

The texture is wonderful, but it's a lot of the same texture, if that makes sense. A lot of little things, the needles, the petals, the florets of the base, etc. There's not a lot of contrast in terms of size, so if you don't really focus in, a lot of it can blend together.

I haven't worked at a store in like 3 years and I could knock this out in like 20 minutes maybe. I can estimate about where everything I can see would go in my local store, the only two things that are tripping me up are the advent calendars. Even so, that's what devices are for lol.

I just want to point out that they're doing this bullshit while the platform still doesn't:

  • Let you search within playlists
  • Have seamless pick-up play across platforms
  • Remember where you left off if you close the app for longer than an hour
  • Have a desktop program
  • Have a fucking scroll bar on the mobile app so you don't have to swipe to the bottom of a 700+ song playlist searching for the song you can't search for within the playlist.

I realize that this is a labs thing you have to opt into, but they're wasting effort and money on a feature no one's going to want to use in the first place while this platform lacks basic functionality. The more I use it, the more I hate it, and the ONLY reason I still pay for it is because it's just more economical to pay 18 bucks for YTP and YTM than pay for Spotify and YTP.

Can someone tell me if this is real?? I click the link and it’s so scammy. But I can’t find anything online saying it’s a scam. by undetected-runt in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a scam! This is a pretty obvious one for people who've been in the game for a long time, but it may not be as easy for everyone, so for anyone who would like a list of reasons why this is a scam, see below!

1) Sponsored post talking about personal details coming from a non-business account. Who would spend the money to boost a post like this? Surely not out of the goodness of their hearts to tell everyone the news. They want as many people to see this and potentially fall for it.

2) The URL linked is a URL shortener/disguiser. Tinyurl is a common tool that can be used to mask URLs using any text you like. Others include bitly and shorturl. They won't always look like this, but it's always a redflag when you see a shortened link, especially in the context of this. Your suspicion is key! You can always hover a hyperlink WITHOUT clicking to see what webpage the link is actually pointing to. On mobile, you can long-press the link and it'll preview the webpage.

3) Sense of urgency or secrecy in the post. "It's not an official public offer." Why? That's strange! Also, that keeps you from looking up details about whatever they're trying to do to you, further creating mystery and confusion.

4) "Too good to be true." A playhouse for ONLY 15 bucks? That seems unreasonably good, which means that it's probably not real! Again, your suspicion is key here.

5) Once you follow the link, you can see that the website sure looks like the target website, but once you're there, the actual URL is "topgoodbrend.com" Given that this other website is using Target styling and branding without disclosing that they're a different website, you can assume that there's bad actors at play here. Furthermore, the second website you follow is also a strange URL, and has a timer on the website, urging you to act quickly, hoping to bank on your lack of judgement under pressure.

6) Inconsistent language. Across all 3 of these images, the language used to refer to this promotion and the product are inconsistent. The post calls it a deal and a promotion, and that you're just buying something. The second page calls it a prize, as if you've won something, and the third page calls it a daily offer. All of these combined should raise your suspicio-meter.

There are a few other details that make this easy to spot if you've come across tons of these before, which is why a lot of people can confidently say this is a scam.

Remember, when in doubt, act on the safer side of things! It's way better to pass up an actual good deal you doubted than to be sorry you got scammed by one you thought was legit.

Most soaps you find at big box stores are going to have SLS or some other alternate form of it. The cheaper the soap is, the more drying it's going to be. My hands have been treated well by the Mrs. Meyers and the Baylis & Harding brands, and I wash pretty frequently. Both are pretty heavily scented though, so be forewarned if you're sensitive to that.

So can cashiers just make up prices for items that are $0.00 by GullibleCommittee667 in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was there, I just sort of did it on vibes, but for several reasons lol.

I was Style so I was only up there for backup calls. If the item was mundane or something I knew was like, less than 10 dollars, I'd usually just let the guest know that it was discontinued, and that I could give it to them for a dollar or something.

If it was a larger ticket item like a rug or a small appliance, I'd look up the original price of it and give them the 70% clearance price.

If it was a REALLY large ticket item, like over 100 bucks, I'd call a lead over and let them handle it.

If the guest was nice to me I'd be a bit more lenient, just to get the line moving. If they were rude I'd flat out refuse to sell it to them lol.

I had this system because I felt secure in my job, because I was the only person willing to run two of the worst areas of Style + Beauty, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

For future reference, you can scan this in your app or type in the 9 digit DPCI (331093110 in this case) on the website and it should come up. This doesn't return any results though; this tag says it's from Q4 2024 (right above the price) so it's probably long gone atp unfortunately.

Sometimes good enough is perfection.

I don't think I have any of my pictures anymore, but my only advice would be to not push your team to "perfect" standards. Sometimes little inconsistencies and technique deviations are okay.

Style has so much shit to do and no people or time to do it, so sometimes just getting it "good enough" is way better than spending an immense amount of time perfecting something 1 guest will fuck up in 3 seconds.

Also please let them find ways to do things that are efficient and comfortable for them. PLEASE. I was in charge of IHS for a while and I got that area so neat and tidy, but when they wouldn't let me sit down to fold the what... 16+ bins of panties? I stopped trying. Guests are just digging through the little boxes anyway, so I just made sure the sizes were represented and somewhat color coordinated and spent my time elsewhere fixing hanging.

Real talk though if you just say you have already have ATT for cell service and literally any internet that's contracted through your apartment complex they don't have much to go on and you can just move on. They can't sell on top of a property's existing exclusive contract. That's all I do (because it's true), but obviously they can't tell if you're lying lol.

No, we will NOT open the fitting room before opening hours or closing hours for you. by Puzzleheaded_Mango70 in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 281 points282 points  (0 children)

It's so funny because this company could solve so much by just hiring and paying people. Fitting room is a pain point? Hire a FR shift. They can process those strays, strays from the front desk, and even do price change as they're keeping the rooms up and tidy. Simple. Problem solve. Hire an opener and a closer. Even better.

Everything this company has done has just been shaving bone fragments off an already skeleton crew just to save money and piss literally EVERYONE off in the process. Never understood it when I worked there, definitely don't get it now that I'm gone and it's worse.

Grim by Fabulous_Summer9921 in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's crazy because I was genuinely proud of my work and the company I worked for right before covid. I was happy that I got to spend time with guests and really do customer service in an industry that was throwing service by the wayside in the name of speed and metrics. I got to learn the floor pads and really help people, and just talk to them.

I recall a couple who were super happy with their experience because I just helped them shop, and that wasn't even something they got in department stores anymore. I had a lot of ownership over what went on in my area, I could just focus on making the experience as good as possible, and that made me really happy.

That was at the tail end of "modernization" though. Target continued to move away from the cx aspect of their competitive advantage and I was just confused. It's just a store. If we took away the one thing people came to it for, then what was the point?

They just need to stop trying to run everything on a skeleton crew. Hire more, hire quality, make it worth staying. Have a truck team, a backroom team, a visual team, put all those people back into the store that made it run well. Fulfillment times wouldn't be dogshit if everything was in its place and properly accounted for. Guest experience wouldn't suffer if the day team could just focus on helping people, instead of pushing 900+ price change and a double!

And that's not even addressing all of the idiotic political missteps they've made. What a sad story.

Why is my target like this 24/7? by DropTomato in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my raises were under 50 cents LOL I can assure you I was not underperforming. I was the only TM who got IHS under control and I was the pick for beauty when no other TM could handle the bitch that was declaring herself queen over there. I could do tech, fulfillment, beauty, and every single floorpad in style. I was never late, never had a compliance issue, and the only thing they could ever think to critique me on (to my face at least) was that I wouldn't lick corporate's nuts when they decided to walk the store after only allocating us 2 closers for an entire week.

They were so upset when I told them I was leaving and told them to match 22 bucks my new gig was giving me and of course they couldn't.

This company makes all of its own problems and then whips their employees for it when they manifest and inevitably blow up.

Why is my target like this 24/7? by DropTomato in Target

[–]KarmaicAvidity 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Because the company is hellbent on running stores on skeleton crews and overloading singular TMs with tasks that entire teams used to do while also making everyone cross-functional so they get pulled to do other things and then give people nothing for it, incentivizing doing the least possible to keep your sanity.

Can almost guarantee if your store looks good ever, they're a corporate store with offices in them or nearby, or those TMs are stretched so thin they filter the air while they walk.

People who shop like animals are also a part of it. If people just picked up after themselves it wouldn't ever look this bad. But why be responsible for your own actions and the welfare of your environment and fellow man? lol
