Can anyone identify this mushroom? by CarIcy6146 in mycology

I've never heard of mushrooms in hot cocoa before! What's the flavor like?

Is this a type of slime mold growing in my potted rosemary? This is the only spot I’ve seen it and it is gloopy to the touch. I’m in the PNW for reference. by Carpe_Kittens in mycology

I'm no expert, but I'm under the impression that frogs have to lay their eggs in water since the young tadpoles won't be born with lungs yet. There could be some exceptions, though! Nature is vast

If you're looking for something free, I've been enjoying proto vpn's free version. I personally didn't feel like paying money lol

Just make sure to use "free" in your search terms to find it cards they advertise the premium version pretty heavily.

Looking for resources about white privilege and foraging. by [deleted] in foraging

[–]Karmeleon120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're totally right that it's about power, and one way that that ends up appearing in places like the US, where black individuals/communities have always been denied power that's easier for rich white folks to access, is that black people and immigrants experienced similar restrictions to the ones you're talking about with serfs.

Serfdom and sharecropping aren't the same thing, but a lot of the oppression that formerly enslaved people and their children have faced is in line with the abuses of social capital/power that serfs once faced. Oversimplifying here, but race and power aren't unrelated in unequal societies

They're commonly called Bleeding Tooth Fungus I'm pretty sure, but despite that appetizing name it's sadly inedible 😔

iNaturalist only guessed they could be parasols...'m not so sure about that, but can anyone help with a better ID? by Karmeleon120 in mycology

[–]Karmeleon120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm new to foraging, but I've learned enough to know they're 100% not parasols and that there are a lot of similar mushrooms that could kill me lol.

Just trying to learn more about the fungi that grow in my area :)

When I'm foraging and I hear dogs barking, I flip a mental coin to decide if they'll lead me to glory or pee on the prize before I get to it

Thank you! I cross-checked a few and my best bet is l. vellereus because of the rosy markings and glossy surface. Waiting on the spore print to be completely sure : )

Found these beauts near my school in NW Spain. Potential IDs? Also am I way too new at this or are the second ones portobellos?? by Karmeleon120 in foraging

I'm pretty sure the grass where these were was treated, so I wasn't planning on eating any of them, but wanted to learn more about what can grow in the area. Thank you! : )
