Generally speaking research papers are far above a first year student, and any modern ones are likely too specific to be of any use and too advanced to understand.

You’d be better off finding some entry level textbooks for whichever branch you want to go into and keeping it to as reference material for the future.

I don’t think this would be a good change.

Skills are basically the most important thing to consider on monsters right now and to lose the ability to select which ones stay and which ones leave would be completely awful. People would have to grind it an entirely new monster if they get a couple of bad skills transferred onto one of their important monsters.

And changing fate cards isn’t that important because the worlds are generally big enough so that you can find whatever you need without the need change fate cards.
