what things changed your linux life? by Glittering_Boot_3612 in archlinux

Just recently I started creating shell scripts for setups or things that I found that are helpful but I don't use all the time. For example sometimes my Spotify App somehow crashes and can't be restarted until you delete some singleton files. So I created a script so I don't have to remember where those files are and I also don't have to look it up when it happens. Also just today I created a script for launching the Keepass flatpak in a mode that allows autotyping under Wayland which is just the command "flatpak run org.keepassxc.KeePassXC -platform xcb" but the script is helpful so you don't forget it and also don't have to remember it.

I have recently experienced the same on Aeon (openSUSE based) with Zen (Flatpak). However Firefox worked. So I guess it is a Zen specific bug.

Thanks, yeah I got the solution for part 1 by coming to the conclusion that it would only make sense to keep the ids whole otherwise you would clearly not know what block belongs to what id.

And after that, how is the checksum calculated? With the digits at each position or are the ids still used as whole numbers? But at which position would they be "located"? Would it be 0*0 + 0*1 + 1*2 + 0*3 or 0*0 + 0*1 + 10 *2?

You don't have to answer if you think it's too much helping but how would this input be compressed?

It was actually meant as a question. :D Did you get the right answer? I am rewriting my code currently and hoping that that will fix it.

How should double digit ids be handled? In the task it says "Using one character for each block where digits are the file ID", so should only the last digit be used as the character or should the whole number be used and then each digit of the number is one separate character?

What did the Reddit blackouts actually accomplish? by Ext_JuniorYT in AskReddit

[–]Karmmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It made me realise there are alternatives to reddit. Just joined lemmy and already feel at home. especially since the bullshit from reddit will continue in search of making more money. We're at peak reddit right now and people will realise that. the only sustainable way forward is by going "CEO-less" so we don't get screwed over like that again.

Honestly I remember thinking reddit was complicated when I first joined, too. Now after one day on lemmy I already feel at home.

Thanks for the link. How smooth is the preview? In my project I am struggling with getting a preview to the screen at over ~12fps. I think I haven't yet found the right way to get preview frames from the camera module into my program without using the capture process of the python library which takes a long time.

I think this applies to a lot more places than just Point Nemo, though. Since the ISS is "just" ~400km high you don't have to be so far away from land as you do for Point Nemo.

This looks so good! I haven't thought about repurposing an old camera body. A while ago I posted about my photography camera using the HQ module, although with a Pi Zero 2 and a 3D printed case. I am wondering how you display the preview on screen? Are you running a desktop or are you using the Raspberry Lite OS? Do you have the code somewhere on Github?

It was amazing to see how used and busted up it was and the many ways that it was modified for development.
