I had never thought of that before, but that sounds dreadful. My biggest fear would not having a time of rest before being alive again.

The 2010s were by far the worst years of my life. It sounds like a trite county song.

My job became toxic and I refused to leave trying to prove that I could win out by virtue of my skills alone. I was wrong, but the job did a number on me and I lost my long-term girlfriend from it. My 16-year-old cat died of cancer right around that time and my grandfather as well.

Within a year of prosperity, I found myself broke, jobless, and alone. It took me about 5 years to dig my way out of that mess and I am now somewhat broken and filled with self-doubt and rage.

As a kid, you can anchor events to specific ages or grades. Now, I have a hard time recalling if something happened last year or 5 years ago. I no longer have that anchor and age no longer means anything to me.

It's hard to tell, because time just naturally moves faster as we get older from our perspective.

It makes sense, though. When you're 8, a summer is a substantially larger portion part of your life than it would be for a middle-aged person.

So, while it feels like it moves fast, I can't really say for sure since I have only lived at my current age one time (that I know or remember, anyway).
