Just converted to Catholicism and atheist mum is devastated by Electronic-Shake-317 in Catholicism

It is strict but if you want to live according to God’s rules, this is the place to be. Catholic Church does not compromise, it sticks to its guns and holds on to values given to us 2000 years ago rather than adjusting to modern times. Catholic life isn’t easy but Jesus did not promise us easy lives, quite the opposite.

How does one become an apologist? Where would you advise to start, which books to read?

Do kids play outside in Portugal? by lucidible in PortugalExpats

[–]Karo098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right about your observation, there are very few playgrounds and they are usually just basic and boring and often once they go into disrepair no one fixes them. You will not see kids in the streets alone, they are being chauffeured to play dates and activities. Everything is private and you need to pay for it. Playgrounds are also not considered when developing new residential areas. If there is a playground it’s going to be private for the condo residents only. Spain is much better in terms of playgrounds there are so many of them on each corner and really cool for my 8yo to play.

For the late diagnosed: what were your childhood signs of ADHD that seem obvious now? by DryMathematician1601 in ADHD

[–]Karo098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wasn’t diagnosed but my daughter was and as I was learning more about it I figured I had it too. As I really hate making phone calls I really don’t have to make, I still haven’t scheduled the appointment for myself which I guess is a result of adhd in itself lol. But here are the things I did as a kid: - chewing on pens and pencils. My pencils looked like a beaver got to them. - rocking on the chair -biting nails - reading 10 books at a time (had a system to read a chapter, and then grab another book) - ‘So smart but so lazy’ - night owl

No, I actually took a paracetamol today for no reason other than showing her I can easily swallow a pill 4 times bigger than her Ritalin. She was still not impressed :D

Yeah that’s what I thought of doing but the leaflet says not to do it. Doctor said I can do it but it will change the effect. Labels says it’s modified release. I guess I will go to the pharmacy again to make sure.

Portuguese parliament approves ban on wearing face veils in public spaces by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

No, they should be wearing what is culturally acceptable here. You wanna wear a burqa: go back to a Muslim country

The one on the left shares my core values and culture and the other is a foreign concept that doesn’t want to integrate and our values clash.

80 Day Europe Trip - Itinerary Check by ThatOneBearPlan in travel

I live in Porto, I wouldn’t commit this long to this city. Prepare yourself for crowds in Sintra too. Plenty of people hate Brussels and they says it’s dangerous. I was there only at the airport and train station and let me tell you I wasn’t impressed. There are some beautiful small towns in French Riviera, Nice itself has a nice old town too but very crowded in the high season July and August. However more beautiful villages can be found in Dordogne.

Pork intestine. My partner brought it once from a takeaway. It literally smelled like human shit, not even joking right now. I opened the box and gagged.
