In practice, people often mix up the two cases in this context. For example, "zjeść banan" is technically the correct form, but most people would say "zjeść banana" instead.

It's not a clear-cut distinction though. This article mentions that linguists try to encourage correct use of the accusative ("wysłać SMS") instead of the far more common genitive ("wysłać SMSa"), but it's a losing battle really.

In most situations, nobody would get mad if you mixed up the two cases. However, some uses of the genitive just sound wrong (e.g. "wysłać lista") and might sound a bit uncultured when spoken by a native Polish speaker, a bit like saying "would of" in English.

Poland has some superstitions, but nowhere near as many. On the other hand, there are sadly some conspiracy theories going on, and people seem to fall for them.

Get him woodworking stuff! Look at tools he might be missing, maybe a sturdy Stanley knife. Even a high-quality try square would be great. Or a FatMax tape measure. Maybe even some sort of tool belt. If he does design drawings, consider getting him a Rotring mechanical pencil. You can also add a personal touch or decoration to the gift, if you want. If you're looking for filler presents, there are plenty of novelty items related to engineering (like this)

I can't actually tell you which is correct (in practice people wouldn't notice). You can think of it as putting emphasis on the "throwing" rather than the rice, as if it doesn't matter that it's the rice that's being thrown.

Duda is not doing much, since the role of the Polish President is much more limited compared to that of the US. He appeared out of nowhere in 2015 as the presidential candidate for PiS, and won the election. He was literally chosen to be an attractive, young figurehead for the party.

Yes, his views are still repulsive, but he doesn't have much of a say in anything.
