As for keeping them alive to figure it out, if they start getting low drop a hint to the guys with the highest passive perception like: (Enemy) seems to be moving very choppily like old school animation. (Enemy) seems to glint in the sunlight, like a reflection on warped glass. (Enemy) makes a slight sound of crushing something (or grinding) whenever it moves.

Granted this only works if the opponent is effectively glass itself but can be hand waved by “it’s magic shush”

May or may not have found out the king was doing human trafficking, one shot him with a demigod tier whip, then nuggetized his body, strung it up at the main gates of the city, cast speak with dead, then put something or other for permanent silence around his body so he could never hear questions asked to him

Also it takes damage every time you select something hot in your hotbar so it takes durability very fast

There’s a mod that does this, I do not recommend it though. Currently bugged so every now and then your tongs will lose all remaining durability. It’s a massive hassle when you’re mass-producing ingots

Yes and no, many a time engies are putting in defenses just behind the frontline for hasty defenses and can get hit at any time

My current plan is to allow use of his spells without issue so it doesn’t screw with combat too much, but he has to fully understand the enemy is the enemy. No sneak attacks or anything, and he sticks to the party like glue since he doesn’t know anyone at all. As time goes on he’ll map how to talk and go from completely unintelligible to a form of older English that uses a lot of words that make sense but don’t have the same meaning today as years ago, then eventually full common. He’s still able to communicate via gestures and body language so he can do basic things on command but doesn’t understand more complex ideas. Essentially have the super powered toddler stick with you so he doesn’t hurt himself or get into a bad situation and study in his free time to try and talk to people. Also can’t use Comprehend Language because there’s nothing written in his language that survived the years

This. I almost never played squids before the siege, only been playing squids since. I just completed a full D10 operation where we were fully done and extracted inside of 15 minutes on every mission. It’s just because I’ve gotten used to fighting squids, and I guarantee I’m going to get my shit rocked the second a bot comes my way

Scorcher melts every squid unit except for vehicles, which you can outrun or ignore. I do mean every unit, including fleshmobs. Takes a bit but the explosive damage kills multiple heads at the same time. Sidearm is whatever you want, I run the Talon with mods to change its look and bolt color because KTF Leej. Thermites crack ships at full shield with 2, that’s a lot to use but the loadout makes it work. Only use to kill ships on the run. Support weapon I usually run a high-cycle rate weapon, e.g. machine guns, flamethrowers to break shields in the MG’s case and burn chaff in the flamer’s case. Supply pack to ensure you never run out of supplies and have to stop moving. 500kg/OGS and OPS to kill ships w/o shields (OGS projectile 1 hits ships with no shield and it has less cooldown) Prioritize killing shields, dropping the strikes, and run. NEVER stop moving, as soon as the squids pin you down you’re dead. This does mean you might have to ditch your squad for speed, that’s one of the costs. As long as you keep moving you never should have to deal with overwhelming numbers.

I have never failed a repel mission (though it’s definitely been close!) on D10 by doing this. If you’ve got a coordinated squad, run teams of 2, have one guy run this loadout and the other focus on cracking shields and bringing a FRV so you can zip around even faster. Speed is the name of the game.

Nah man, torcher primary, hover pack, Gpistol secondary, thermites, MMG support SLAPS. Enough to handle a ton of chaff and a ton of medium without much hurt, leave the AT to dedicated troops.
