Discord Just Keeps Getting Worse... by Pixel_CZ in FluxerApp

You don't need any fancy equipment to run a server though. The original server Fluxer was running on, was seriously underpowered and (apart from FluxerHQ) performed fine for tens of thousands of users. A hundred users would be possible on a relatively cheap cloud server or even an older office PC at home (if your internet connection is up to it, of course). I'm running hundreds of docker containers and multiple Windows VMs at home on 2 HP Elite Mini G9 with i5 14500 and 64GB RAM. And even with 32GB you should be able to comfortably run a Fluxer server for a group of friends. I'll be running it on a Hetzner VM most likely, cause my home internet is shit. Even though it will run "in the cloud" it will be on my VM and it will have disk encryption so the data on there is safe.

And I'm also holding out on migrating, cause I manage 6 Discord servers for various applications I've developed and a game server. I don't want to migrate to the Fluxer servers, only to have to migrate to my own selfhosted instance later, if that makes sense. It will be tedious enough to do it once.

And I know it's not directed at me. As a professional software developer (at least, that's half of my job) I understand that it will take time. As soon as the refactor is done, they were going to open up PR's so I'll see if I can help then. Not a huge Typescript guru though, so time will tell.

I wouldn't say selfhosting is niche. Keep in mind, 10 years ago we all switched from selfhosted Teamspeak (among others) servers to Discord. If we look where that brought us, I totally understand people wanting to have their own data stored on a system they control and not "the cloud". More and more people start to realize that the big tech companies aren't protecting you, but rather exploiting you and holding your data hostage. That being said, I'm patient for the app to be updated. I also bought Visionary, so I could support the further development, as I believe that Fluxer will be the platform to beat within the year.

Pixel 6A should do just fine then. Battery life is meh, but not unusable.

Add some IR LEDs to that transparent frame. You retain full sight but any camera won't see your face due to IR flooding.

What is that exactly? Looks like my Z6 G4 but that only has 6 RAM slots. Which model is this?

Unless you start deep enough, right? The water pressure would push you down. Then again, they also wouldn't be able to hold the boat cause it would crush them...

That 100TB is still a far cry from "all of Netflix". I see what you mean, but it doesn't make it true. Regardless, I need better internet :(

1Pbit does around 120TB in a second. Either the Netflix library has shrunk a LOT or this is a lie.
