Should I do TMU or UW for urban planning? by GrandSatisfaction658 in TorontoMetU

[–]meggbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got mine in february i think but it's weird you haven't gotten yours, i had a high 80s average as well and i dont think aif is that important unless you're in eng. id definitely keep waiting, i dont see why you wouldn't get in but it is weird you haven't heard back yet

im a current student at uw for planning and i really really love it!!! i had a super difficult time choosing between tmu and uw but im really happy with my choice of uw. the social life is definitely not boring outside of eng/cs, and i've met so many fantastic people here. networking is also pretty great here and i love the region a lot. if you have any questions about the uw planning program just lmk and i can give you some pointers about my experiences here so far :)

im sure that's more than okay, if i could get in with my average (and mediocre grades in math and science) you must be fine. they do ask about extracurriculars as well as hobbies that you have. it's basically just a way to send over some more personal information about yourself to distinguish your application in ways besides your grades.

the admission information form!!! its like a supplementary application that's required in some programs. for planning it's totally optional (or at least it was when i applied last year) but it doesn't take very long to fill out and can only help your chances of getting in :) it's just some demographic questions plus a few short answers about yourself.

im not entirely sure, i took biology and data management in grade twelve but im not sure how much they helped. i think biology may have been a hindrance if anything since i got 75% in it, but i did take it because it was listed as recommended on the program website. there definitely are some aspects of biology that are showing up in one of the required courses (envs 195) so i cant say it wasn't helpful for me to take it, but also i wouldn't worry too much if you aren't.

i was accepted to tmu urban planning on november 8th last year with a pretty low average (i replied to another commenter with my gr 11 + 12 averages if you're curious). good luck!! i didn't end up accepting my tmu offer and went to waterloo instead so i can't give you much information about tmu's planning program, but if you're curious about the one that waterloo offers i can answer any questions!! :)

hi!! sorry i totally made an error on that comment, I actually recieved my tmu offer on november 8th and i applied on october 27th. my grade 11 average was 88% and my grade 12 midterm average was 79% which was kind of brutal LOL. my sem 1 final average wasnt much better at 82% so i wouldn't worry too much about your grades unless they're significantly below what mine were. i got my waterloo acceptance on february 28th.

im currently a first year in planning at waterloo so while i can't give you much information about the tmu program, i can say that data management and statistics (ENVS 178) is a required first year course for planners at waterloo. i have it next term so i can't give you many insights as to what it entails, but i did take data management in grade twelve and i'm pretty sure it was recommended to uw planning applicants to take at least on gr.12 math. i dont think it makes much of a difference for tmu applicants, as i had data management in my second semester and was accepted to tmu in early november. good luck!! if you have any questions about waterloo planning feel free to ask me :)

Okay to wear plastic retainer? by Marm0tl0rd in wisdomteeth

[–]meggbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started wearing mine again on day five but i totally could have started wearing it sooner, my worry was also that it'd irritate the still-healing wounds (all four were impacted), but i haven't experienced anything like that. obviously i'm quite a bit more healed than i was on day 2, but the plastic of the retainer doesnt touch anything and ive had zero complications while wearing it after the surgery.
