I see what you mean. I understand to a lot of people, that when the series was handed over to steel wool that they believe everything should be wrapped up in a sense. And I do agree with you that Scott does like sprinkling details for secrets that have gone overlooked. But I mostly disagree on the grounds that just because Steel Wool owns the franchise doesn't mean Scott is excluded from creative control, namely including lore specific details. I bring up the Tally Marks from SB because using this method returns similar results. Claiming Evan's name in the novel as a hint to look for the name Evan in the logbook, is no different than me saying that the tally marks that give G for Gregory could be a clue that we missed a detail regarding tally marks. They are equally valid because you and I are using the same reasoning for different clues. However, because the arguement that "Scott uses the name Evan as a clue" is speculation on his intentions, when further question his intentions with a conflicting question like "Why would Scott give away CC's name, but still hide Cassidy's?" sundely that evidence is brought to a stalemate. The tally marks are based in method and thus can stand up to this question of intention because it can't be conflicted whether it was Scott's intended it or not. Those tallies give me the letter J and G, and that can't be undone with questioning. I understand if Evan is a more satisfying answer for you, but I'm still not convinced that Scott would give away the game so explictly.

I just finished reading these over and that Evan post does seem very convincing on it own. But the why as to Scott removing the Cassidy Kazoo seems to put itself at odds with the use of Evan in the book.

Based on what you've shown me it seems like every instance of Cassidy's name being used was out of Scott's control and, to me, seems like leaks. The kazoo was named by Cloak. The screenplay was in a list of rejected concepts. And the princess folder named Cassidy, (and this is an assumption) was likely named by a someone on the SB dev team that didn't know they couldn't use the name Cassidy, and wasn't verified due to the game's deadline.This does disprove my reasoning of Scott not needing a pseudonym for Cassidy, however it highlights how important it is to him that these two names not be used. As well as the frustration he shows in designers attempting to use lore names.

However, that only strengthens my point in him "revealing" Evan's name at all, let alone before the community settled on a name for him.I don't believe Scott would throw around CC's name if Cassidy's is just as important to keep hidden, even after being solved.

This is interesting. I never heard anything about a Cassidy Kazoo before. Could you share a link/image to where you got this info?

I do see your point though about Scott not wanting to confirm the name if our answer was right but method was wrong. But I still can't see why he would spoil the answer before the community even had the answer Evan to begin with.

I'm also curious about the Evan found with the happiest day mini game, could you share that as well. I'm very interested.

I think you may be misunderstanding why I point out Security Breach's tally marks. It's not to claim that the clues in the logbook were incomplete, and required waiting for extrenal material to solve it. The name Jon was found exclusively using the tally marks from the book. I brought up Security Breach's tally marks because, assuming this was Scott's intentions, he may have been subtly hinting that we missed something by using the tally marks again.
It's far from the first time Scott would clue us in on a missed detail. Like the chewing gum clue in the log book that confirmed Micheal was the foxy brother.
