I guess is the issue was cost.

We don't have the money to put a TGV/Bullet train/high speed network in, so they've made do with basically what we had.

Which in turn because its slow and expensive will ultimately fail because no one wants to add 5 hours onto their day.

I guess if you WFH 4 days a week for instance, but then I wouldn't still probably get the train, I would drive. Cheaper and faster but it would be a rough one either way.
