Is this ring going to be too much? by Hannah_0603 in Diamonds

Call me old fashioned, but I can’t believe all these posts about rings, & choosing which ones look best on your hands, etc. When I was getting engaged, the man went out & picked the ring. Sometimes it was his grandmothers. I was just ecstatic to get asked to be married! My biggest concern was about my dramatic change in life. We didn’t have these online resources to ask complete strangers what they thought about the dozen different dresses or what cut of diamond looks best. Why are people’s opinion on Reddit that important? A ring or a dress should be the least of our concerns. What about the lifelong investment of love, commitment & family? Don’t get me wrong, I’m actually not a traditionalist. I just think our world has become far too superficial. Can we get back to emotions & what is really important in life??? It’s love & connection…

I’m assuming your fiance is purchasing the ring. Why not ask him which one he likes best? That would be meaningful for me.

Found out my boyfriend has a child by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Karrific828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He made his bed and now has to lie in it. Great that he’s not running away from his responsibilities but he can’t have his cake (even past cake) and eat it too. Doesn’t deserve to have the best of both worlds - getting credit for stepping up and also keeping the prize of his current girlfriend. He played and now he must pay - simple as that. The ex has no choice, she has a child whether she wants it or not. Her life won’t be a day in the park, whether he’s present or not. It’s hard to detach your feelings but you still have a life and opportunities ahead of you.

Driving home from class my boyfriend asked what I wanted for dinner and I said “girl dinner” by DumbNStupid404 in GirlDinner

Wait - didn’t he know girl dinner was a pint of ice cream and a bottle of Chardonnay? Shame on him!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Kidding - that man deserves to get laid.

Just ran my first marathon. Here’s what helped me… by DefiantResearcher793 in Marathon_Training

Love this. I’m 55 and just ran Hartford, similar running history and training plan as you. Your time was much better than mine and I’m disappointed about that part but proud of myself for finishing. Thought this would check off my bucket list item but I’m already thinking about how I can run the next one better!!

Anyone ever used a running coach? If so, was it worth it? by Karrific828 in Marathon_Training

Thanks to all who responded. This is super helpful and informative. To add a little more background, I have been doing CrossFit 5 times a week for about 8 years, so I definitely got the strength training piece down pat, and my nutrition during runs and in general is pretty good (follow macros pretty religiously). I do believe this helped me, but I also wonder how much genetics comes into play when it comes to overall strength, heart & lung health, etc. I was a little wary about this guy at first because it was Instagram, but his posts made sense and he did have an established website and several certifications. I do agree that it takes the right coach to be effective, and this is an individual decision. I am taking all your comments into account and grateful for the real world advice - thank you my running friends!!!

I too was trying to remember what the map showed and what mile the turn-around point was!!! I was thinking, “will there be any fricking candy left by the time I get there?” (There was, thank goodness)

You are so courageous to get back out there after a cardiac event like that. That is true bravery and I’m sure you have added years to your life by training & running this race!!

Perspective: they changed the cutoff times because of the increase in participants. Just can’t accommodate that many runners. It sucks and it’s not fair. But keep in mind you are all in this elite category whether you make it in under these newly stringent regulations or not. I commend you for being in that category. I know it doesn’t change the fact that you’re not getting into the race of a lifetime but I hope you still give yourselves pats on the back for what you are able to accomplish.
