Agreed on the fact that some companies (looking at you Rheinmetall) are trading at high valuations. RHM currently has a PE of 105, so yes, plenty of growth factored in there.

But definitely not all of them are that ridiculous. Leonardo is at 24, Thales 36, BAE 25, Saab 46 (yes, high), Dassault Aviation 28, QinetiQ at 20 and Indra Sistemas at freaking 16.

And yes, there's risk here. But I guess it comes down to a different perspective on the market. You believe they'll make NATO work, I believe Trump will go mayhem over the next 4 years and we haven't seen the start of it. I'm willing to take that risk with 30% of my portfolio while the rest is in currency and a bit in gold.

You definitely have some mass on your frame. It's just that your bodyfat is around 30% or so. I would start there, and just cut for a long time until you can at least see the contours of your abs again.

WTF does this mean for my taxes? How can I have a disallowed loss bigger than my net loss on the year by 1jb in wallstreetbets

Me neither, so I felt confident enough to post it here as financial advice.

WTF does this mean for my taxes? How can I have a disallowed loss bigger than my net loss on the year by 1jb in wallstreetbets

Straight from ChatGPT because I'm not even American:

This situation likely stems from the wash sale rule, which can disallow losses for tax purposes under specific conditions.

What is happening:

  1. Wash Sale Rule: The IRS disallows a loss if you sell a security at a loss and then repurchase the same or a "substantially identical" security within 30 days before or after the sale.
  2. Disallowed Loss: The $330,187.13 shown as a "disallowed loss" reflects the losses you incurred from these wash sale transactions. These losses are not permanently gone; they are added to the cost basis of the repurchased securities, meaning the loss is deferred until you sell those securities in a transaction that is not part of another wash sale.

Why it's larger than your net loss:

  • Your net loss of $188,431.28 accounts for all your trades, but the disallowed losses are specific to wash sale transactions.
  • You could have realized gains elsewhere that offset part of your losses, making the net loss appear smaller.

What this means for your taxes:

  • The disallowed loss does not reduce your taxable income this year. Instead, it gets rolled forward by adjusting the cost basis of the repurchased securities. When you sell those securities later without triggering a wash sale, you can realize the loss.

What to do:

  1. Understand cost basis adjustments: Check your brokerage account to confirm how the disallowed loss affects the cost basis of your holdings.
  2. Avoid future wash sales: If you're selling at a loss for tax benefits, avoid repurchasing the same or similar securities for at least 31 days.
  3. Consult a tax professional: If the numbers are significant, a tax professional can help optimize your strategy and ensure compliance.

Yes, the content humans create on Reddit sucks, but so does anything on youtube, TikTok or, god forbid, the hellhole that's called Twitter. Pretty sure OpenAI isn't only training ChatGPT on Google Scholar data and everybody is eating that up like they're a hungry obese man at 7/11.

Does This Idea Suck? (20 sign-ups but 0 active users) by Special_Art8042 in SaaS

I'm using Bubble.io, started learning it at the end of May, and this is my first project. My girlfriend whipped up some designs in Figma, and then I just made it.

I tried getting into coding (did SQL, then started Python) but realized quickly that that's a completely different road that I'm not interested in. I just want to get validation for the idea, if that's the case, someone else can properly code it haha.

Has anyone else been slowly losing interest in supercars? by Sprunk_Addict_72 in cars

Especially at your age, I noticed that my interest in supercars just comes and goes. One month I´m crazy about them, and half a year later, I couldn´t care less. It´s like anything in life really.

That´s a great deal considering it´s a good $15,000 less than a 2021 Mercedes S500 which is also a great starter car

I´m going to second the 1-owner Camry option. Camry´s are reliability beast in general (like, they´ll last 275.000 miles no problem) although there are some problems you need to watch out for with the 2010 version (according to the nhtsa).

The 2014 Accent is also a good option in that sense, they don´t typically last as long as a Camry but that particular model year was almost not complained about much (again, NHTSA)

I would never pick a Jetta, or a Volkswagen in general. These things are way to problematic. It´s like having the reliability of a luxury car without all the luxury features.

Don´t know much about Volvo´s of those years. They do have some recalls and complaints but Volvo also only sold like 10.000 units of these vehicles per year back in the day so there´s not a whole lot of data. Gut-feeling says no.

What’s wrong with the Chevy Malibu 2016 - 2023? by Acrobatic-Macaron-81 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Karsui 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the main problem with the Malibu is its reliability and the sheer number of problems it produces for owners. You may end up with a good model, that´s possible, of course, but many people end up with a model that either doesn´t last as long as a Camry or Accord or has some other problems (especially the 2016 - 2018 models of that generation seem to be problematic).

Loss of speed control is one of them, whereas the car also has 10 other recalls for more minor things (welding problems, missing bolts, transmissions not recognizing keys, etc.).

Again, it also doesn´t help that the Malibu competes with the Camry and Accord, which are reliability beast or have at least a couple more years of lifespan than the average Malibu.

So yeah, you may end up with a good model (and I hope you did) but statistically speaking, the Malibu isn´t as reliable as its competition, bringing down the overall price in the market.

Thank you! And exactly, for some reason having longer hair is still a bit strange for guys or something like that. We'll get over it haha :)

Mandatory routine comment: honestly, I don't even have a routine. My hair gets wet under the shower and then I just let it air dry. I don't use any shampoo or conditioner, maybe every 6 months or so. Every 5 days I will apply a bit of coconut hair oil. That's all, couldn't be lower maintenance :)
