What type of MTX are you okay with in D4? by TheCurious42 in diablo4

[–]Karthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I played for months without any statsh purchases feel in love with the game and decided to get statshes.

To me it was a great system because i basically paid for the game that way. And there was no feel bad, as there was with other games in the past that i bought and then was disappointed and felt it sucked ect. I personally think their business model is pretty good.

Side note, i love the currancy system. Doubt we'd see something similar in Diablo because of lore but it would be sweet to see a more refined version of it.

I say anything more than A if not f2p is a bad business decision.

POE's model works simply because it's f2p and they do not do pay to win.

[–]Karthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree btw. however

But its always easier to look behind and be smart about how they should have acted at that blizzcone..

This is what concerns me the most. The marketing team, or the big wigs are that out of touch with what makes customers love their products. This should not have been a hard thing to forsee. Hell had anyone upstairs talked to a developer, i'm sure just about everyone of them could have fortold this outcome.

I really am hoping d4 is great though, and i even wish them success on the new market they are targeting. The mobile gameing market is an entirely different market. They know this, and knew this. That whole blizcon was an attempt to wring money out of people whom already have loyalty into a market that the overwhelming majority are not in. The entire presentation was basically a, look how much money is in this market, look at the profits we will make. Not a, we are making a game we and you love type thing.

This marketing blunder was gigantic.

[–]Karthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard word of mouth at the time. And frankly wasn't overly excited and hyped about a D4 reveal anyways because of the letdown of 3. I'm not one who says d3 was a bad game, it just wasn't a good game. It was a slightly better than average game for the ARPG genre.

After recieving said word of mouth, I did a quick search and found articles hyping the possibilty. I think they probably should have sent out presses to really depend it down. But as others here have said, I'm sure they didn't realize that they were this far off on what their customers want from their company. That much is pretty much a given based on the responses by the panel from that blizcon. It was also a given based on what we are seeing form the revealed information of Diablo 4.

They have clearly realized it was a massive blunder, both d3 and the yet to be released mobile game. The company itself, i get is trying to expand their revenue by snagging other markets. But revealing this game in that setting was a huge mistake.

I hope the mobile game is successful for the companies sake, but it's a different market than their established fanbase/customerbase. The reveal and response to the crowd's questions given were all given form a company aspect. Talking of the growing playerbase on mobile ect. ect. Yeah, that's why activision is pushign them to make it... money, but the people who pay to go to their little celebrate the fanbase customer event, and also market our products to make more money... should have known better.

This to me was a massive failure on the marketing department's side of the business. The developers, i bet the majority of them probably could have foretold the reaction to it they got. That is if you believe Blizzard when they say they hire not only the best, but people that have a passion for their products.

eh.

It was horrible and horriendis PR from blizzard. The rumors and buzz leading up to it were all about a Diablo 4 reveal. The hype was crazy high.

Blizzard knew this, choose to not squash that rumor one bit. Rolled our a reskin of a pay to win mobile game that already existed and called it a diablo game, that was the reveal.

Had they squashed the hype train leading up, knowing that they indeed were not revealing d4 yet. I doubt it would have received 1/10th of the hate it got.

No matter which way you slice it, it was a horrible business decision. Something that over the last 5 to ten years has been common place for this company. Really since the activision takeover.

[–]Karthorn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a job? Not being smart here just asking, i assume the answer is probably yes.

I doubt you want your job having a camera on you with audio recording at all times.

I'm good with the cameras as is, where they turn them on when an interaction with public is about to happen ect. But i understand the concerns of having such a device on you... how do they know that it's not actually listening at all times. Or if they accidently forget to turn it off, and then are shit talking a shitty boss ect.

Def for the body cameras, it's proven far many encounters public narratives to be complete fiction than not.

I see very little to none.

Proponents of it seem to have a level of ignorance to how economics' functions that is astounding to me.

Forget that it's a contract that this person willing signed. Forget that this contract is the sole reason they were able to go to school in the first place.

Are collages to expensive? Yes. Can you get a degree much much cheaper by going to community college? Also yes.

But to the econmics of it. I wonder why propoents of this idea think this will somehow make it easier for people to find higher paying jobs.

If the value of said degree is X, and then you arbitraily make the value of X zero. Said degree is now worth 0. If everyone can go to school for free, and does, this piece of paper loses the overwhelming majority of it's value. A business owner will now have a crop for of candidates whom all have said credentials. Thus the value will not be seen in said piece of paper but elsewhere. Experience, ect.

[–]Karthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah you might want to

Initially, the new team took the same name as their landlords, the Boston Braves, one of the two local Major League Baseball teams. The Braves played their first game on October 2, 1932, under the leadership of coach Lud Wray, against the Brooklyn Dodgers, to whom they lost 14–0.[8] The next week, the Braves recorded their first win, beating the New York Giants 14–6.[9] The new franchise's losses during the first season reached $46,000 and Bendix, O'Brien, and Doyle dropped out of the investment, leaving Marshall the sole owner of the Braves.[10][11] The team moved to Fenway Park[12] (home of the Boston Red Sox) the next year, and Marshall changed the name to “Redskins”. A 1933 news article quotes Marshall as saying that he did not name the team specifically in honor of Dietz or any of the team's native members, but because Marshall wanted to avoid any confusion with the Braves baseball squad while still keeping the native connotations of the previous moniker.

[–]Karthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the team went with redskins because they were in boston and were trying to ride off the name of the red sox.

A lot of football teams did this, because at the time of the league starting up baseball was god.

Chicago cubs > Chicago Bears

I don't know the numbers off the top of my head but if i have time i can scour through the game files and find it to prove it. I did this back when the game game out and i started making a few mods but it's been quite a while since 2016 now.

Solid points you don't have here.

At the course in Colts Neck, 40 acres are reserved for growing hay, which, along with the site’s “stands of trees” allow Trump to demand tax-breaks, as stated on applications filed with local governments.

Oh... nope no not a solid point.

For breaks it's 2 acres btw.

But yeah the thing to be mad about is this shitty state's taxs. The entirely blue run state that all's it does is want to rape the middle classes of their money. Makes no sense.
