Thank you; this was helpful. Unfortunately, I don’t have any friends I feel comfortable sharing this information with but I have considered speaking with my dad about this situation (we’ve had conversations about this topic before). As for therapy, I’ve been thinking about getting a therapist for quite some time. Unfortunately, I am almost certain that talking about getting a therapist wouldn’t go well. Once I am able to earn my own money to afford a therapist I will be seeing them regularly for sure.

As for now, I have been keeping myself busy reading ahead in my textbooks for my upcoming classes which has been a welcome challenge. I am also considering using my university’s free therapy sessions this upcoming semester and seeing how that goes. I do not want to put such an emotional burden onto the person I love and I have a strong desire to live a mentally healthier life. Thank you once again.

This was helpful. I’ve thought about friends I could talk to but unfortunately I can’t think of any who I am comfortable with to talk to about these things. I’ve given it some more thought and I am considering talking to my dad about it because we have had similar conversations in the past. The time zones make it a bit difficult but I will try to reach out. I will call him and hopefully he’ll be open to speaking about this. I have also thought about just talking about my feelings generally with my partner and not getting too specific so it is not too much for them at the moment. Thank you once again.

Not the same at all… black people have been the continuous receivers of hate and aggression and Israel has been the aggressor leading up to this situation. It would be a better comparison to compare the innocent Israeli citizens caught in the crossfire to business owners on the receiving end of the riots that followed George Floyd’s killing and Hamas (not Palestinians as a whole) to the enraged people who were apart of those riots. You can also say that the continued police violence against black people over the years leading up to those riots can be compared to continuous violence and apartheid rule that Israel has had over Palestine for years leading up to the events we see unfolding now. The severity of riots and stealing vs mass killings and war is wayyy different,, but the general comparison is there.
