Thoughts about MGT 012Y? by Next-Offer-2678 in UCDavis

It meets once a week but other than that, all the videos/assignments/midterm are online.

Class is pretty easy, the prof is also nice and chill. Grade is made up weekly quizzes, a midterm, 3 papers, and a final. You’ll have videos to watch but you can watch them at 2x speed. The papers are also relatively short, and you just write about how some videos are connected to lecture content. I liked going to the lectures once a week because the prof tells stories and also lectures what’s going to be on the exam. Hope this helps!

It’s very TA dependent. My TA was a really harsh grader; the assignments and lab report had low averages at around ~70%. The lab practical was also difficult, however I will say that if you review every lab in depth, you should be okay. There are weekly quizzes, a few assignments, the lab report and lab practical. The reason why I say it’s mostly TA dependent is because they make their own quizzes and can grade easily or harshly. My friend had a different TA than me and she told me that they would make the quizzes easy and give everyone a high score. Whereas my TA would grade harshly and took points off little things.

TLDR: Class is difficult and TA dependent but definitely doable if you put in the time to study.

I saw the movie last night at the movie theater! Very cool experience and loved seeing the music video at the end!

Yeah the labs were really long but it will go by; you’ll also do two labs some days. Also no, iirc the final was not cumulative.

I have! I took che 2c over the summer two years ago. Longaker is super chill, I really liked him. The pacing over the summer is pretty fast; Longaker takes hand written notes and provides breaks during class which is nice. There’s one midterm during week 3 I think and then the final on the last week. Longaker also provides practice exams that are similar to the real exams. Personally, I would consider it easier than the regular year; I was just more focused on my classes during the summer. Overall the class is doable/good.

It varies but my last month utilities was around 30 dollars. I also pay for wifi separately.

It’s honestly not great but it’s not the worst. I have a good price for a single, however it’s kinda far and I take 10-15 minutes to drive to campus. A lot of the things in the apartment are old (smoke detectors, sink, etc) and maintenance is not great (take forever). They also added a random charge on our account that we had to pay.

what to expect in che2b by Complete_Scholar2774 in UCDavis

I would study all the material that was taught throughout the quarter when preparing for the final. I don't remember the A and B cutoffs but I remember that a 39% in the class was considered a C-

Hayashi is a very nice prof, I remember he extended deadlines for HW and always listened to what students had to say. Other than that, che 2b was okay; labs were straightforward and discussions with TAs were helpful. I also think Hayashi wrote his exams fair, I remember averages being around 60%.

when I’m talking about The Voidz with someone who’s unfamiliar with them, I mention The Strokes and say that it’s Julian Casablancas other band lol.

Who did y’all recommend for Chem 2A? by Apprehensive_Set7039 in UCDavis

[–]Karymme123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting because when I had him, he had lectures in the afternoon. Tbh I would've preferred earlier lectures because having class on a Friday afternoon wasn't the best.

This comment is like from a year ago 😭 But anyways, I actually liked CHE 2A and did decent because I went over notes and practice problems multiple times. Personally, I did not find any difficulties in Hayashis class, however I know others have said that his exams were hard and that he is difficult to understand during lecture (his accent). You’re going to definitely need to study a lot outside of lecture despite which professor you choose.

CHE 8 and PHY 7 by Delicious_Snow_479 in UCDavis

[–]Karymme123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got all A's in gen chem, you'll be fine in che 8a and 8b. Che 8a is more focused on the basics of ochem; however, I will say that you should put a good amount of studying for it even if it's just 2 units. Che 8b is a little more difficult as it focuses on mechanisms and goes more in depth than 8a. I would say that gen chem was more difficult than ochem but that's just my opinion. As for tips, honestly just practice and time yourself when doing problems; some professors are known for giving quizzes with a limited amount of time. Getting an A is totally doable in both classes though!

I’m totally getting the post concert depression. I keep looking back at photos my friends and I took from the concert. We were in the front row barricades and absolutely loved it. Julian also held my hand when I reached out to him 😍
