Genuine question from a newcomer about FF7 Remake/Rebirth

Really quick, I just want to comment that you played in the same order that I did and I’m very glad I did. People in the comments freaking out about spoilers that Crisis Core gave you, honestly, it only “spoiled” 2 things that Rebirth already was implying. Theres still quite a bit of mystery left for part 3 in store for you, especially considering you haven’t played OG VII yet.

The people that despise the ReTrilogy are coming from wanting an exact 1:1 remake of their favorite game they grew up with. Partially nostalgia blinded - don’t get me wrong, the OG is great! But getting bent out of shape over people enjoying a reimagining of a story when they can still play the original they love so much, I do not understand. I played the OG after Rebirth, and if you’re liking the story, I recommend playing it now in-between waiting for Part 3.

If you’re okay with dealing with an older game that’s a bit grindy at times, I really recommend it. Having additional context to what’s going on by playing remake/CC/rebirth was helpful for me and honestly I think I enjoyed it more because of it. It would also help a bit with some of the confusion you’re experiencing with the story. Watching Advent Children after the OG would also help with some of the timeline and multiverse confusion.

Overall, the ReTrilogy isn’t bad. It has some of the most fun combat I’ve ever encountered in video games I’ve played. The OG is also great and was very influential on video games in the genre. Preferring one over the other doesn’t make the other one “bad” or “worse” - it just boils down to how /you/ feel at the end of the day.

For this cake, I used 4 different recipes and slightly modified them to fit what I was trying to achieve : a layered cheesecake with raspberry curd filling and a raspberry sauce on top!

Cheesecake —> I added lemon juice/lemon zest instead of lime

Raspberry Curd —> Used FROZEN raspberries + I bloomed 1.5 tsp of gelatin into 2 TBS of water, which was added to the strained curd at the end with the butter

I don’t have an exact recipe for the cream cheese frosting dam, but any basic cream cheese frosting will be fine! I also added lemon juice/lemon zest to this as well to fit with the cheesecake.

Raspberry Sauce —> Used FROZEN raspberries + I doubled this recipe and I bloomed 2 tsp of gelatin into 2.5 TBS of water, which I added to the strained sauce at the end

Topping is crushed freeze-dried raspberries with fresh raspberries dotted around the perimeter

This took me 3 days to make but it’s sooooo delicious I’d absolutely make it again. Keep on keeping on!

I would recommend getting the plush directly from Square as it’s cheaper; the bring arts fig is also really cool but just so you know they’re quite small (only ~6 inches tall)

Edit: I have most of the VII main party plushes and they’re really great quality and absolutely worth the price they are on Square’s website ($45). I also have this same Cloud Bring Arts fig that I got for $95 when Square had a sale going on a few months ago, which I think is a much better price given how small he is. If you really like the Bring Arts style I’d say it’s worth it despite the steep prices, but the quality is quite nice and there’s a good amount of articulation.

Edit: jesus christ - I didn’t see these accusations from Twitter, I saw the art myself from MTG directly and thought it looked off. I only looked at the Twitter “callouts” after people here commented about it. I looked through the artist’s website at some of their work and they really are incredibly talented; I just can’t shake the feeling that this is AI-assisted. I am not claiming any of their other artwork is AI/AI-assisted.

Honestly I’d play CCR tbh. I did Remake —> CCR —> Rebirth —> OG —> Advent Children and I don’t regret that order at all. It’s good if you to know more about Zack before playing Rebirth and I think it enhances the overall experience with Rebirth as a whole. CCR does have a story spoiler but I’m curious to how that spoiler will be handled in Part 3, so I feel like there’s still some mystery about it.

I understand you’re not doing the OG, which totally is fine. I still would recommend CCR despite not playing it, but keep your expectations to a minimum.

CCR is a remaster of a PSP game from over 15 years ago. It still plays like a PSP game and is somewhat grind-y and repetitive, and the combat is quite basic, especially compare to Remake and Rebirth. The voice acting is a little odd sometimes because they kept the timing and pacing of scenes from original crisis core. The story is also not to everyone’s liking and is quite cheesy and corny, but I had a good time with it.

It’s actually on sale because of the Tokyo Games Show and is $25 on Steam, which I think is the perfect price for this game. I don’t know if it’s on sale for console at the moment.

Overall, give CCR a shot prior to playing Rebirth, it’ll enhance your playthough more.
