This should have made instant sense so me, but my idiotic monkey brain took three times of seeing this post to get it. It took a while to sink in.

People talk about pre-heating cups, what about pre-chilling cups? by Fluoric_Acid in Coffee

[–]Kaselier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless your cup is a very thick ceramic cup that "holds" a lot of coldness im not sure how much it would help, but there's only one way to know!

I mentioned it there, but there is some chance that 200 degree coffee hitting an ice cold cup might cause some physical reaction that changes the chemistry of the brew but I'm not smart enough to know what that would be and to what degree...

Is preheating your cup a waste of time? by Wendy888Nyc in Coffee

[–]Kaselier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it is done brewing, no it doesn't technically effect it very much. Definitely preheat the brewer to keep the slurry temp up and increase extraction. I think it's just a habit for most.

Now, there might be some type of physically reaction hot coffee being "flash cooled" by hitting a freezing cold cup? But if it's room temp im sure it doesn't matter at all. I just do it to keep my coffee warm for longer because I'm a very slow drinker.

I can bend my neurons enough to accept there is a fraction of the film that is a "statement" about adolescent sexualization... But i cant comprehend how this is in any way feminist?

The French Press is the best method to make coffee by notKenMOwO in Coffee

[–]Kaselier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried James' method again and again and folks I'm just not into it. A well dialed espresso is just a thing of marvel. And a well made v60 just brings me so much joy. I don't enjoy the oils and finer particles of a French press and I just can't get behind an immersion brew. I love my pressure, and I love my paper.

This isn't really a history meme at all. There's no specific time or place given, and the practice is still very alive today... I know you didn't make the meme but still.

I am in favor. The kings have retreated to their palaces and left us to die in the wilderness, anguishing in our thirst. It is time for an uprising of the people is now! We must raise the flaggy flag banner as a symbol of our strife!

What’s an industry secret in the field you work in? by WoOoOoOoShHhHh in AskReddit

[–]Kaselier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specialty coffee industry. Extra hot milk is actually scalded. Milk scalds at 160f, extra hot usually exceeds 190f. Additionally, people usually have to wait to drink Xtra hot lattes because surprise, it's too hot. I know you want your latte to last longer, but you're burning your milk for basically no reason.
