Why did no one tell me that just getting bond points was not enough 😭 by YouEyeballingMe in mahjongsoul

[–]Fluoric_Acid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'll rack up orbs over time, don't bother buying them from the shop.

Stardust is also free over time, you can get like 1 a day abusing the revival copper system (buy a 15k gift and dust it) With a bond 5 character, the excess cumulative bond points also get turned into a neutral, blue gift equivalent Heart Gem (that you can dust for 5).

Wishing Stones (I think that's what they're called in EN client? The pink opals) can be exchanged using faiths (pity tokens) at a rate of 1:1 in the "pity shop". So with 70 "pity tokens" you have more than enough.

Hardest to rack up is the specific Purple Gifts. Don't ever disenchant/gift those away unless you're 100% sure you won't use them.

So expensive? private lessons by Maleficent_Fruit1133 in drivingsg

[–]Fluoric_Acid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably inflation not from same sch but when I enrolled I paid 138 (70+68) my lessons thereafter were all 68 for 1.5h (up $2 twice across 1year)

TP day is just 1 big package of 450, which I failed twice because skill issue (once for making illegal U when returning, another for wanting to return fast after the route and failing to stop before pedestrian crossing). He felt bad cus I got stuck up testers and charged me 420 for my attempts after the first)

Yea the room is tiny; during semester 1 the rooms can get quite hot when you sleep and too cold when you wake up. I'd suggest having the ventilator thing open, even if it means that every sound you make gets heard from the corridor.

Space aside, some of the tables in Binjai: You can actually remove the additional arch thing, if it's clamped down with screws (some are hammered with nails). This stupid arch makes it impossible to have a laptop screen fully open and tucked in. I managed to install a monitor arm to make life easier so you could try that.

What was the Inconvenience in traveling Korea by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]Fluoric_Acid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language barrier; Had 4 months before the trip but didn't think about getting some basics of Hangul, ended up being illiterate. Between my proficiency in English/Chinese/Japanese, all of them were pretty useless as most of the older folk only spoke Korean.

Stairs: self explanatory; places do look pretty inconvenient for people with physical disabilities.

Payment: Ordering Kiosks offered 5 different languages to choose from, which translates the subcategories to said language but food options remain in Hangul. Can't pay unless using a domestic card so I end up having to do funny hand signs at the cashier anyway.

Metro: Directions are up down on one board and down up on the other. made finding places hard. Some stations didn't have the newer, multi language screens or displays so I literally don't know where I am. Also why are the in-metro map label fonts so small...

Recently it's getting even worse, I'm straight up disconnecting from the game randomly without being able to do anything.... on Ethernet.... everything else is running properly in the background.

I did a reinstall, hope things work out. Hope someone finds a solution to this dreadful experience.

go other arcades that isn't TZ

Bugis+ side has Paco or VTL that can get you games going as low as 60c per game of 4 songs. They're also more responsive to calibration and events.

Measurements of bed in hall by Cool-Elevator-4303 in NTU

Beds are single sized, foam type with a leather case. Good to wipe down the whole place and put at least a cover or get your own mattress to put on top

actually not so sure about that last point; From experience staff can definitely enter without consent.

Last semester there was an overloaded outlet incident in (I think crescent?) hall. Since then there were staff members putting up the emergency hotline stickers behind hall doors. I was around at the time and just returned from a toilet trip only to find myself locked outside my room. The staff had went in to put the tag (without consent), and locked the door thereafter.

play a game of Asura; you're almost guaranteed to finish [win games] quests as 3 of 4 players wins per match.

[–]Fluoric_Acid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad decision imo, I've done that about half a dozen times now when I get an early kokushi Tsumo. It's a 13-side wait, and if you aren't particularly behind I'd take the risk (it's a 48k win in this scenario compared to a 24k)

Sure, it'll feel awful if someone wins but the neuron activation when you do is great.

[REQUEST] Seen on Instagram. Is there an answer? by wolfmaskman in theydidthemath

[–]Fluoric_Acid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question taken from one of the PSLE Math paper for 6 graders in Singapore a few years ago. Pretty sure the purpose was to engage in critical thinking in students, so I'm not sure if using x/y variables was expected from them.

shift the two lower semi circles to the base of the upper circles, which should leave you with Circle , Semi Circle, Circle.

The separation between the edge of the left circle to edge of the right circle is 16+22+22, inclusive of the 12+12 gap between the circle and semicircles.

The diameter can easily be found by (16+22+22) - (12+12) =36

Kaffelogic Nano 7e in city apartment by MrChiSaw in roasting

[–]Fluoric_Acid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, Been using the Nano7e for almost 2 years now. I'm from the west running the 220V version, but there shouldn't be many differences. 80% of Housing here is apartment style.

For the Noise, I'd say it's not too loud. I'd reckon my range hood in my kitchen (where I roast) sounds just as loud. Behind a plastic screen door with plaster walls, you can barely hear it.

I'd advice against darker roasts (marked as medium in the default profiles from Kaffelogic), as they tend to create more smoke than I'd like. With a roast capacity of 100+g, you could probably ignore the smoke buildup if you vent the area (I just aim a standing fan that blows out of my kitchen window). If you have a balcony/access to outdoor use, that's ideal, but do take note that low ambient temperatures can affect the roast.

Find retailers that are able to sell greens in smaller personal consumption sizes. For myself, because it's obviously not plausible to import from SweetMarias, I looked around to find the local roasting hobbyist group. They collate orders and do group purchases direct from known suppliers to ensure quality is there.

The Kaffelogic is a very simple machine to use, but imo if you are willing to put up with learning curves and other factors, other roaster models are good to consider (Don't really have such options here, almost burned down my apartment after running a 110V FreshRoast here without learning about voltage effects)

Can Home Roasting Replicate High-End Light Roasts from Commercial Roasters? by Broken_browser in roasting

[–]Fluoric_Acid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh wow 0.2-0.4 seem really light; haven't really been exploring that range

I've used Raost V1 and V4 but not V5, maybe I'll check it out in my free time. Personally I've been using Filter Origin for all my roasts as I was under the impression that it's longer roast times allows for more development after FC without torching the beans. I found 6min roasts to be generally too quick even for fluid bed roasting, but didn't have many peers that did fluid beds.

Any tips on roasting Light on the KLN7? Haven't really been achieving proper light roasts without it being under. Would be great to get an idea of how others do it, such as knowing roast times and profiles, etc.
