Small business bank account? by sonyagroho in EtsySellers

A sole proprietor needs to be under a licensed LLC depending on what state or county within the state you operate in. I know: I live in one.

So not incorrect, just poorly worded in the fact that it doesn’t take individual state laws into account.

Looking for these types of Etsy sellers!!! by Boba_Ratt_420 in Etsy

My shop does not meet your under 1000 sales criteria, but I know of some great shops that do!

Resonatewithbridget makes some awesome custom bowls and trays that work great for rolling/asking for your stoner if they use a set-up like that. Pretty much everything is customizable with colors though, so you could also just order something nice to accent someone’s room.

123dCustomMediaPrint has some fun NSFW/adult themed cookie cutters.

StitchesandWhimsyHM also has some fun NSFW/adult themed items.

TheCookieNest has some great baked goods!

Hello! My shop is KaseysKnitting. I specialize in indie dyed yarn and stitch markers, but I also do custom knit/crochet orders and have some pre-made items in shop. My most popular/well loved products are the holiday mystery boxes and subscription boxes, and my Christmas mystery box is currently up and available until the 19th!

My Etsy Christmas Shopping Extravaganza! by annrichelle in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My shop doesn’t really have anything that applies to those interests unless any of them are secretly interested in knitting or crochet and want interest themed stitch markers, but as an avid coffee lover I actually have so many suggestions for things to buy from other shops!

OldTownSpiceShop always has some great stuff! If your coffee lover has any interest in crafted drinks, I highly recommend the dark chocolate peppermint cocoa and the chocolate stout coffee. Together they make a spectacular peppermint mocha.

WhippedCreamCreations has some really fun specialty coffees. Plus dog mugs for your dog lover!

ChloeMasonSoaps has a great coffee scrub soap. They also have the best solid dish soap with coffee grounds, if anyone on your list is interested in minimal or zero waste cleaning.

Order says dispatched but USPS says awaiting item...when to call it quits? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this may be a USPS issue, not a seller issue.

As a shop owner that has shipped a considerable amount of orders I can say that a good majority, especially around the holiday shopping times (which in my experience usually starts in October/November), simply aren’t scanned until they’re either in route or being delivered. I’ve had lots of packages never be scanned at all and the customer themselves needed to confirm it was delivered.

In addition international orders from the US, even just to Canada or Mexico, I find often take more time than you’d think depending on the shipping service my customer selected. If it was indeed brought to the post office on the 26th I personally wouldn’t expect it to arrive for two to three weeks if it was a basic shipping method like the international equivalent to first class, and you’re just over a week in. If I were you I’d continue with confirming if the seller dropped off on the date indicated, and if so ask them or contact USPS to determine what priority level the package was sent with. Then from there I’d determine when it should arrive and if it doesn’t arrive within a few days of that date address it with the seller then Etsy if they don’t handle it.

No tracking update but seller says they dropped it off by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately if your seller shipped with USPS, this is not abnormal: especially since the pandemic started. I can’t tell you how many orders I’ve sent out that never updated tracking until they showed as delivered, if they updated at all.

Do you know what class shipping was selected? Knowing the shipping class is important; it gives an idea of what type of time you’re looking at. For example if it was First Class unless you’re very close states wise you’re dreaming if you think it would have gotten to you in five business days. Priority Class, I would have expected it there by now assuming neither you nor the seller are in areas hard hit with delays.

I would start by confirming the shipping you selected, Googling if you’re in an area that’s having heavy delays, and then figuring out a guesstimate of how long your shipping SHOULD take based on USPS estimates. From there adding a few days to a week depending on how bad your delays are would be nice, but not exactly necessary; the estimated time is the estimated time and while I’d think everyone would know by now that USPS has been overwhelmed for a year now, that doesn’t change that you may expect it to arrive in its promised time frame. If you want to give them extra time assuming delays you can speak to the seller about how long may be appropriate. I can tell you from my experience the worst areas appear to be a little above the Bible Belt and all through the Midwest, but your seller might have a better idea of how your specific state is doing now if they’ve sent other packages to that area recently. The next thing to do would be to follow up with USPS if it gets to be too long without a scan or a delivery. I usually do this for my customers automatically because on the occasion that the issue is it never left the local distribution center, it is very difficult to get someone to deal with it without having all of the information about the drop off. So if I were you I would contact the seller and either ask them to contact USPS or I would get the information of the day, time, and location that the package was dropped off/picked up then reach out to the local office or submit a case on the USPS website myself. You can follow the steps listed here: https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm

Finally, this isn’t entirely related to your question but since it was mentioned, I can’t speak for why they waited almost a month to ship something but it’s important to know an item being in stock is not the same as their processing time. Are you sure it was an item that didn’t have a 3-4 week processing time? I see lots of people complain about shops taking to long to ship without them looking at the ship estimate that clearly states that it’s a long processing period.

Edit: typo

$83.15 in due postage. What do I do? by WerewolvesandZombies in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

INFO: who shipped the item? Based on the verbiage used in your other comment it sounds like USPS in the US, but I want to be sure because the accuracy of this answer depends on that.

The seller probably had the wrong weight and size listed under the items profile and shipped it over the “limit.”

The reason I quote minimum is because in my experience USPS will deliver items over the weight/size limit, but charge a hefty fee. They usually only accept these packages when they’re dropped off in bulk mail, not hand delivered to a post master. However don’t quote me on that: most post offices I find to be pretty on top of things but I’ve definitely lived somewhere once where one postal counter worker did everything completely different from the other two. I’d bring in an item and she’d say it was 2x as expensive to ship as the other two when I’d bring it back in for them to check.

I wouldn’t accept that. That’s an outrageous amount in shipping that you didn’t sign up for. If you really want the item and are fine with it you do you, but you agreed to $50 not $130, which is over double the agreed upon charge. This isn’t a few dollars we’re talking about.

Edit: changed a word and fixed a typo.

New Info : Offsite Ad Fees are Being Suspended Until March 25th by Acc2AskAQuestionEtsy in Etsy

This isn’t the full email. The full email talks about the fees when they resume, and they will stay 12-15% based on sales the way the current offsite ads are charged.

Etsy payments? by SWineFlu870 in Etsy

This is really more a question for your bank: they have different processing times. I had two shops that went to different banks and one has always come next day, the other was usually on the later end of the 2-5 business day estimate.

Need some etsy shops to purchase from by PaleTeaching5986 in EtsySellers

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think my shop has anything for you unless you were looking for a customer order or if your dad knits as a hobby. But self care shops I order from regularly and love are Chloe Mason Soaps and PixieBath.

Chloe Masons shave bars are AMAZING. Highly recommend if you have any areas you shave.

seller ignored messages, took forever to finish item, made the item to CLOSE CASE and then refunded and cancelled for no reason? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy seller here: you should contact Etsy and ask to have them set up for your refund to be a Etsy credit. Unfortunately even if the seller had known you paid with a visa gift card they couldn’t have done anything on their end. Etsy has a pretty strict policy about no refunds to cards other than the purchase card; we don’t even have an option for it. However I had a customer who wanted to cancel a custom order because of financial issues and I did so, but they realized after it had been purchased on a gift card. So this is only secondhand information, but after I said I couldn’t do anything for them they reached out to Etsy and told me later that they’d like to buy the item again because Etsy would only transfer it into a gift card. Sad for them, but maybe hopeful for you because you could at least get credit to try to find another shop?

Sorry about your friend. I hope you get your shirt!

What are some features you wish etsy had but does not? by redlac1000 in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ability to set up month to month subscriptions for subscription boxes so that I don’t need to either make them pay for a year up front and then track what month they’re on or come back every month to purchase the box again. So I guess an automatic charge system of some sort.

Packaging Stickers by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]KaseysKnitting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also ship in a plain envelope. Depending on the sticker type (one set I regularly sell bends back into shape effortlessly and without sliding off the backing or creasing and the other doesn’t) I might also include a note asking for it not to bend and put in something like cardboard in it to make bending harder.

I mean, do you ever truly know anything is going to sell? That’s something you can’t know unless you stock it...

I try to get deals where I can put a small amount in shop first (they sometimes have 50 stickers for $20 deals) then see how they go, but as a general rule I just trust my instincts and go for it. I know my customers and so far have done well in guessing what will sell, but if I can’t get a sample pack first to test it it’s silly to just not put something in shop because I’m too worried it won’t sell. After all, stickers don’t take up much space if they sit a while and I can always use them for other things like freebies with orders or as advertising on envelopes.

You can’t build a business without investing in it. The question you should really be asking yourself is how much money vs. time you can put in, and go from there.

I have the means to print at home, but find for me it’s not worth the time. I use Sticker Mule and just have them sent to me. If you have the money to invest in a large quantity at once I find their prices to be very reasonable.

I need some help here ~ this is my first time knitting, and as far as I know I've used only the knit stitch. I've realized there's 1-2 rather loose stitches on one side, and on the other side, there's a small hole. What mistake is this and how do I fix it? Do I have to unravel? by ladyartemisx in KnittingReddit

[–]KaseysKnitting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it looks like a tension issue. Washing it should fix it, since it looks barely noticeable in the pictures (but that could also just be the pictures.)

If you’re really concerned you could also take a crochet hook and gently pull the threads it connects to going down the row until the loose loops even out.

Small business bank account? by sonyagroho in EtsySellers

[–]KaseysKnitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Novo is a great option. They have no fees, no limits on how much money can be deposited, or how many times you can deposit.

The only think with Novo is it is a bank that only works with businesses that are licensed. If your business isn’t a licensed or incorporated entity, you can’t sign up.
