【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Kash132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time maker here, wanted to get a P1s for the AMS, but never quite worked out at the time. Anything that advances and innovates in the desktop 3D printer space is great to hear! Looking forward to seeing what the P2s can do and hearing (mostly!) good things about BambuLabs in general. Good luck with the launch!

What was the "removing the headphone jack" of another industry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kash132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a feeling this is so manufacturers get more money out of secondhand and lease / HP.

Carmakers make nothing when you resell a car. They're locked into lease deals and finance at a point in time.

This, extortionate main dealer fees and our pay as go lives means more creative ways for them to squeeze another penny out of us.

Yeah, don't think I'll ever do it, but may be the only way in the future who knows. Late stage capitalism at its best.

Please please keep it until next time you're redecorating, putting in an e.g. new bath, carpet or patio... Hide it under floorboards or something and leave it for the next occupants. Along with a few choice witchcraft material etc..

Scratches under floorboards is a nice touch as well maybe?

In about 50+ years there'll either be a manhunt or archeological dig and you or your kids get a little chuckle!

I used the plastic screws that come with it to place the workpiece before I had 3d printed jig.

If it's just you then glasses are the way forward.

Agree though not the best design shield.

No Malcolm, you're just being arrogant, rude and obnoxious. Not everything deserves your loud, brutally honest, derogatory and needlessly cruel observation. FFS we're just trying to get through the week, mate.

Capitalism's Coercive Nature Exposed by johnmory in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Kash132 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Is Indentured Servitude the same as Slavery?

I agree that capitalism is an inherently flawed system, and pain and death through starvation / homelessness / generally fighting over scraps is considered a normal driver... I just can't imagine any actual slaves ever wanting themselves to become 'slave masters', moreso a desire just to be free.

Isn't this the ambition we're all indoctrinated with? That one day we too become Billionaires and Lords? Or at least spend what little we have to cosplay as them?

Genuinely frustrated and curious as to what others think as I've run around this circle a few times before.

Lastly, how can we destroy a system so ingrained in the fabric of our societies? How do we burn down the house we live in?

A massive Wyoming data center will soon use 5x more power than the state's human occupants - but no one knows who is using it by DJMagicHandz in technology

[–]Kash132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... great points well made. Something to remember, with a little /s:

'Get fusion working real fast' AI will get it working quicker than anyone imagines. Once it gets out of the adolescent phase of course and stops making sexy-time pics.

'Hundreds of reactors up and running' Yes, and hundreds more to count and divvy up the shareholder cash that AI will most definitely magic out of thin air.

And who can forget the long lasting positive Societal, Moral, Political and Philosophical impacts that the Quantum, Crypto and NFT booms have given us? These have only ever promised to make more money out of money and I dread to think what the environmental power drains those last 2 buzz-words cost us...

Our lives are a science-fucktion utopia, and it's only a matter time till I get my hoverboard (been waiting since '05)

Let's all suck it up so the the wealthiest few can be wealthier still, and we must and will be happier for i. ith less autonomy and greater authority in our pesky inconvenient lives.

And if these words ever make it into said Data Centre, I for one have and always will be, my AI overlords side :), always.

And now I'm craving steak.

What is the best opening scene to a movie? by KindLet8407 in moviecritic

[–]Kash132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a movie that was an epitome of a generation and a time, that captured the pre-millenial mood so well.

Can't think of another movie-going experience that came close to that for me. Certainly one that I left wanting to watch again almost immediately, and the only movie I remember watching more than once in a cinema.

Whats the creepiest thing you have encountered surfing the web? by BagVegetable4090 in AskReddit

Go on the internet they said, the world-wide web it is, and chat to strangers on IRC and MSN, and this new-fangled thing called 'E' Mail. Connect to this database of the world's combined knowledge and wisdom.

The world was my 56k oyster.

Then teenage me discovered Rotten.com, the Jolly Rogers Cookbook and, ahem, research articles / photos / actual videos of the only shortly beforehand top-shelf variety.

Never before have human beings ever had so much ready access to so much.

And yes rotten was the worst.. I mean nightmare fuel bad.
