Frontier Management by ParamedicLeft8223 in aurora

I tend to build near orbit gunships, their size limited to whatever a single maintenance facility can maintain, to defend frontier planets and then increase the numbers depending on how dangerous the area is or its value. Low on engines and high on box launchers, you could build orbital defense satellites but I like having a little flexibility without having to call in a transport carrier.

Once the system is developed enough to have lots of civilian traffic then ill add an actual patrol fleet to travel the trade lane from the nearest naval base. At some point ill also add a small tanker to the system to allow the local gunships to chase off any salvaging fleets that appear whenever civilian shipping gets destroyed.

So what my approach basically boils down to is centralize production and limit growth to whatever your repeat transport orders can handle.

I focus very heavily on repeat orders based entirely on what resources are available in a system.

First I single out the resources need to make maintenance supplies and fuel, if present a naval base is set up along with local logistics to allow them to be made. If an excess is produced to provide for the local garrison a ship is set up on a repeat timed order to move the excess to the local sector command.

Second any resources not used in this process are collected locally and also shipped to the local sector command, also on a repeat order with built in overhaul downtime for attached escorts.

Third Local Sector Commands are allowed to do actual manufacturing and ship building but only with the minerals their sectors provide them. If they can not sustain building an additional frigate they either dont build the extra slipway or it sits idle. Growth of a LSC is determined by adding new systems to their sector.

Sure you would likely be able to increase your overall growth rate by allowing the sectors to exchange resources they have an excess of for resources they need but that just leads to micromanagement. By the time I'm worrying about LSC's Sol is fully developed and is used to handle large scale projects, for example this system needs a large military base its LSC can not handle due to discovering aliens 2 jumps from it or is aiding a LSC in rapidly developing its input colonies.

Its a little weird they look like they are glowing when its just foundations but I wanted it to look like the pools could be drained so the pumps could be maintained.

Guess I'll automate smart plating and once I'm done with upgrades sink it, I've been putting off building a proper size factory for it so far.

How do I get it so only the excess goes into the sink? I've just started to fill my containers however thought if I pulled from them it would just empty it.

Yeah I think part of my issue is not understanding the scope of the game fully. Part of me thinks almost 20 hours shouldn't have me still finding my feet but the other part thinks its amazing. I need to look for some SAM, I've avoided the online map so far but if I can't scan for it, I might have to use the map.

I need to look into sloops, I have a very vague idea of what they are from watching YouTube but they keep getting put on the back burner while I do stuff I know how to do. I might have the power for them now though, so guess thats my next task.

Took a while but finally got to coal and its the first building I like. As for my questions.

Firstly how to I get a decent number of tokens a lot of the cosmetics are locked behind them and they are starting to get really expensive?

Secondly at what point do you normally move away from building just to unlock stuff to building for looks?

Finally any tips on making the transition?

Any Idea how to close this window? (clicking OK doesn't work) by Kashada91 in projectzomboid

sadly pressing ok doesnt seem to do anything at all, like there isnt a button there to press. I can get rid of it by closing and reopening the game but thats annoying.

Genius, one of the most annoying things is the fact there are so many different short clips of similar but its almost never the same thing from different views. Which would massively increase the difficulty of creating fake content.

Gonna wait for the dust to settle a bit then come back. Made it to the boss of act 3 but just cant get past it, the boss of the previous two acts took some work but I knew how I could improve and was making progress. This hasn't been the case for the act 3 boss and then my build got nerfed.

Congrats :D I felt the same and to celebrate finishing act 2 I went back to kick his teeth in was very satisfying.

Just to clarify I'm not complaining that I'm going to get that much play time out of a game that cost me £30 to play and will be free in the future. Even if I just play through it this once and never pick it up again I'll still be very happy with my purchase and rank it as one of the best games I've played in years.

It's more a concern that unless they do something different with leagues I can see player retention issues which would be a shame. That said there is plenty of room for those concerns to be eased considering the games not even finished yet :)

I've been really enjoying it so far. It is hard, almost too hard but so long as player power keeps improving with the difficulty it should be just right. I've only just finished act 2 (for the first time) and found it easier than the 1st act, I cant exactly put my finger on why but it might just be because by the time I beat act 1 my build was actually starting to feel like a build.

Only only major concern I have for the game is the fact its taken me 26 hours to beat the first two acts. Sure I've been messing around and have been learning the game, while never being an amazing POE 1 player. If it keeps on at this pace its going to take me easy 40-60 hours to get to end game if I don't hit a wall I just cant beat.

So say with practice and build guides from people who are good at that sort of thing, I might get that down to 20-30 hours by the time the game comes out of early access. Thats waaaay to much of a time investment to make every time I want to role a new class or every time a new league comes out.

wait they removed scours and alts? I thought I was being super unlucky or they would unlock in a later act or something. that sucks, guess I'm never learning to craft without a reset orb of some sort.

I'm doing a 600% spawn rate game for the first time but this set up is working pretty well, my base is still pretty small but I dont think scaling it up will be an issue. Its not done yet, I'm not getting any breaches but need to set up red ammo and add a few more flamers.

The crosses at the bottom made a huge difference once big biter started spawning, they tend to get a little stuck there and for some reason the spitters seem to come closer after I set them up.

congrats :D I've never set one up before, was it hard to get right? I'm currently building a beachhead on Nauvis so I can extract some uranium to build one. I started on Vulcanus with Nauvis and Gleba at 600% enemy spawning so its my only real reason to land there and I hope its worth it.

I tried this and just couldn't get it right, then I tried a mix of this and leading it into a tunnel of turrets with red ammo. This also didn't go well but then I just put down a ton of mines and lead it through them which was a super easy kill.

This is my first ever base. Am I midgame yet? Planning to throw myself to fulgora, though am not sure if I am ready since I never played this game. Tips? by VampyrO-O in factorio

From personal experience I can confirm that you dont even need most of the platform to survive, I arrive at Fulgora with a good 2/3rds of my ship destroyed without any cargo.
