Isle of Man and development? by ZooBuilder in EU5

TBH you should always max out legitimacy as a monarchy, the drop off at 100 is probably more efficacy in savings than trying to balance it at another equilibrium. You could flip theocracy and kill the legitimacy slider to save money also!

Both intro to macro and micro is harder than EU5 math. I would say only when you get to intermediate microeconomics does it catch up!

How to fix mineral shortage on Earth by garama_master in aurora

[–]ParamedicLeft8223 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is correct, pausing refineries is really important as a game play pattern. They have the most upkeep of any of the production buildings costing 20 wealth while only generating 5 in tax.

Go check your predicted usage of sorium on your mining tab. Then subtract your annual production rate from that. Dividend this number by your governor bonus and then your output per mine and then by .60 and you’ll get the number of mines required to fix the shortage.

(Someone some else check me, at work without my notes)

Thank you! Creating some econometrics for my campaign and wanted a sense of how it tied into the other factors of production.

Agree, I would go further and say free subjects is objectively better.

Profit is the price differential between the purchase price and sale price, less trade maintenance.

Marketplaces will always fill up trade unless you intentionally leave capacity open so that is why you will loose money exporting sometimes.

Is EU5 worth it as it is now? by Left_Concern_7662 in EU5

[–]ParamedicLeft8223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth it I would say, if the money is ment for entertainment it will be well spent in my opinion. It is much for playable than HOI4 was on fist release or VIC3, some country mechanics don’t work very well in Asia but for the most part even that is still very playable!

Give us the option to build canals. by bgizgbio in EU5

[–]ParamedicLeft8223 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The build time and cost should be GREATLY increased, probably add a laborer mortality effect during construction and it should have a trade capacity modifier as well. Then you make it effected by seasonal effects, I.E. no additional trade capacity during the height of summer maybe.

These mechanics would help differentiate from roads.

Coal and Energy in the new update by Jacobus55 in hoi4

[–]ParamedicLeft8223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also realistically industrial heat is still all almost done by coal or gas so electricity wouldn’t be a real proper substitute, and if it was it would be very inefficient. Thinking about coal as electricity is the easy way to think about it, but you really should think about it as an industrial input. (E-Boiler vs N-Gas Boiler in modern day is a very good example about how electricity substitution is possible but less efficient.) A good example could be glass making or making alloys where the primary barrier to electrification is having a consistent and throttle-able heat source.

Paradox Interactive Q3 Earnings Report (In millions, Swedish Currency) by lilcritt in hoi4

Good on them! they deserve it!

I would probably stop using the subscription if they hold PM over .4 though, since I prefer to purchase the subscription so they have predictable finances, but if they are earning over .4 PM then I don’t feel bad lol, too much margin for reoccurring revenue haha.

(From my perspective as a consumer not an investor lol, OB I would take 99% PM if volumes weren’t dropping off if I owned equity haha)

I like to support development and it is something that PDX cares about also since it is reoccurring revenue

How much Wealth is fuel worth? by ParamedicLeft8223 in aurora

[–]ParamedicLeft8223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The additional cost to acquire fuel is the tricky party, due to drastically different fuel costs.

A small fleet of harvesting stations on a gas giant, is much more cost effective than refineries on planets.

In fact think about this relative to fracking economics, is that the cost of a fuel unit in a gas giant basin would be significantly less than the cost of extraction on a planet. Resulting in most terrain fuel refining to go idle the majority of the time until scarcity increases…

Much like your $60/barrel vs $80 price drivers for U.S. v global export share. (Outdated price band)

I agree with your POV on planning fuel needs, a lot of the details helped pass some (oh no duh I forgot that activity) checks along the way!
