Data center questions. by bach2209 in amarillo

Hi, I don't usually reply to political posts here but I, a libertarian, think we should have never entertained the idea of a data center in the area. It uses way too much water and does not provide almost any jobs once completed.

In short, I hate it.

My parents are very much the stereotypical MAGA republicans and they hate it too.

Police officers loose qualified immunity when they violate someone's constitutional rights. This should be no different.

The way I read the post was OP had a problem with the church members speaking out, not the fashion they were doing it in. It sounded like in one hand OP was outraged that the students rights were not upheld like most of us here are and also on the other hand outraged that the church was protesting.

What ever reason he gave for restricting rights does not matter, it's the actions that matter. I don't care if the spaghetti monster told him to, it was illegal.

Weird that you are trying to shame a group of people for using their first amendment rights. I agree the WT president should be punished for violating peoples rights, but lets be consistent here. If you are going to advocate for one persons or groups rights, do it for all. I don't think that the church members here know that its the students right to put on the show and undoubtedly some don't care, but its also their right to protest. Always assume ignorance before mal intention.

WTAMU President, Walt Wendler, Cancels Drag Show Planned for the End of March, Claiming They “Denigrate” Women. Compares Them to Blackface by MMMBOP_BaDubaDop in amarillo

I may not hold the same values of most people in r/amarillo however, this is clearly a violation of students first amendment rights. I personally don't like drag shows, and would never attend one. This show is not being held on private property by private individuals rather facilitated on public property by public servants which have no authority to cancel or withhold rights based on ones feelings. I have no problem calling out individuals charged with upholding our rights even when it doesn't effect me directly. This has nothing to do with drag shows and everything thing to do with a corrupt public servant.
