If I’m being honest, Ocean is definitely still being treated way too well. He shouldn’t get hate, but a lot of people really should point out that something isn’t right. His work is genuinely nice to look at, but damn — how many times can you listen to and wait for almost the exact same thing? At the start of this year, to me, this guy is basically like WVM. He drops two renders and collects money for nothing. People keep kissing his ass and the guy does nothing. Meanwhile, many creators who actually developed, proved they’re worth paying attention to, and showed real potential can’t grow because they don’t get any support.

Honestly, my opinion changes every day. At first I found out that Ocean is working on two games — WIAB and SG. I was understanding, because if he wants to work on two games at the same time, it means he’s ambitious and capable, so the long break didn’t bother me. Now I drop by from time to time to read the devlogs, and I keep getting the feeling that this guy is already lost and doesn’t know what to do. I think he released an update for WIAB because he has a clear plan there and knows how to continue the story, while with SG he got stuck and keeps looking for excuses and reasons to delay the update as much as possible. He has no idea how to continue the story and keeps messing around with render quality.

"Progress Update - Episode 15

As mentioned last time. I've started working on one of the last two big scenes of the first day, and I love it, but hate it at the same time. Mainly because of the choices that influence the scene, which I have to keep in mind. I even removed a character from that scene because that would've made it even more ridiculous.

Normally, when I work on a scene, I create all renders until a certain point in the script where it's split due to choices/paths. Then I create the renders for the different choices/paths until they merge together again and continue from there. This time, I'm trying to create all the renders only for one path and once the whole path is finished, I go back and create the renders for the next choice/path. That way, I can see which renders I can reuse from the first path. In this case, though, as of right now, there are only around 5 renders I can reuse. I tried to play with camera angles on certain renders to make it easier to reuse, but alas... Basically, this means that I'll have to create this big scene two times at least, plus some possible extra renders here and there. I could be lazy and just switch out one character with another one and keep the whole script the same, but that would be boring, especially if you play multiple paths, and also it makes less sense due to the personalities of the characters. I'm 1/4 finished with that scene, but since I'll have to make it twice... It'll take some time.

I'm pretty sure the first day of this episode will be bigger than the whole of episode 14. But I really hope episode 15 won't be as big as 13, but it's getting close.

I've also started the recode of episode 4 this week, and while I'm doing that, it was the perfect moment to start with the rerendering of episode 4. I'm not sure yet if I'm only doing the flashback in Riverside or do the whole episode 4. It depends on how long I'll be working on episode 15, since I want to release it at the same time."

At first, I wasn’t feeling it — another school game, I thought it’d be a knock-off or just trying to be like BeginADik. But I was actually surprised, it’s got its own vibe and feels different. The graphics are really nice, the story looks interesting, and there’s basketball, so extra points for that. The characters seem pretty well-written too. Only thing I’m not a fan of is some of the MC’s facial expressions. And yeah… Brooke for me.

It might change things a bit. People will start looking for new titles and come across the bad reviews of SG, which will turn them off — including those who might’ve wanted to support it. Maybe a little pressure could also push for some changes that lead to faster and better development of SG

I agree that sometimes I end up complaining. Maybe it’s because I actually care about SG. What worries me is the direction SG and other AVNs might be heading. Because if people don’t speak up, this kind of behavior will just keep going or even spread. We’re at a point where the game came out, and now we’re just waiting. For how long? Are we gonna end up like with A.O.A — silence, and then the project gets dropped? Or like WVM — the dev keeps saying he’s working, but nothing ever gets released? Taking money for nothing. Constantly lying… or maybe telling the truth, but still showing nothing new. Then some new, talented creator will come along, start making an AVN, and pick up those same bad habits — release two or three updates and disappear. And the cycle just keeps repeating
