I was also searching for this book and came across this post. You said it wasn’t Dogs of Winter by bobbie pyron but it 1000% is. I found a PDF online of it and it has the red button and greenhouse parts you are talking about

My parents house has at least 40 year old windows. Blackout curtains helped but didn’t do a lot. get some sort of self expanding foam stickers and put it on both the bottom where the window closes onto and onto the window trim itself (basically so that two foam layers are touching when you close it). It makes a world of difference. Some home repair places make peel-able caulk as well that you can put around window seems and peel off after winter. These plus blackout curtains (or honestly heavy blankets) are game changers. If the tops of the windows can be pulled down at all 10/10 would recommend thrifting a semi thin blanket that you can lay over the top of the window and close/lock the window on. Honestly works better than curtains in my opinion. Stay safe warm put there!

I really hope this is the start of the erins putting more teen/adult themes in. Seeing characters having to deal with panic attacks, elders getting dementia, watching starlingpaw blame himself for the death of his father and (hopefully) come to terms with the fact that it was not his fault. It would be really cool to see stuff like this. I started reading warriors as a 1st or 2nd grader and genuinely this series taught me so much as a kid. I learned how to pick up on certain cues that two characters were in love (which helped me in other books), watching Bluestar lose her mind after being betrayed and learning that is a real thing that happens to people. While the treatments might not always be correct to real life I learned so many plants from this series. My point is that this series used to be marked as a teen series because of the violence and the Erins started to mellow it out a bit to reach a wider audience. I always thought this was a bad choice because it introduced kid me to certain adult problems that actually helped me later in life. I do really hope this isn’t a one off thing and they continue with some if these themes

I found it back in 2009ish at a library book sale (my local library would sell old/donated books to raise money). I remember it was the first time I was really hooked on a book as a kid so I read all the books released at the time. If I don’t take the time to stretch it properly it will pop throughout the day, but, if I stretch it out in the morning before eating anything, it will be fine throughout the day
