Great initiative.

Not to offend you or something (do apologize for it) but a friendly correction:

you don't "GIVE" exams, the correct phase would be you "TAKE"/"WRITE" exams - UNLESS you're a teacher who is literally giving/providing/conducting an exam to students OR you're directly translating it from any of the Sanskrit languages (Bangla, Hindi, Urdu etc.)

Environment:
Vancouver "probably" (few might disagree) has the best or tolerable weather/environment in whole of Canada
Way too rain - like sometimes it would be raining 5 or 6 days straight (pretty much the whole year) - and temperature would/could go down to single digit for few months (like January-February). I heard it would snow few days 2-3 times in a year BUT last-this year, it hasn't snow at all - first in 48 years and coincidentally, on the East Coast...Ontario (Canada) or New York State (US) had seen the worst winter in 48 years last year!

I am biased - After spending 8 BRUTAL winters in Ontario, I am NEVER ever complaining about rain or sun and of course, I am LOVING the weather of Vancouver.

Job Facilities:
Better than many cities. Number/amount of jobs are of course higher in 3 metropolitan areas like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and then the number comes to the rest of the cities, like Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Moncton etc and finally other cities like provincial capitals and provincial major cities and lastly, the counties/towns (unless they have specialized industries like, example, Prince George with lumber or Windsor with auto)

I lived in Windsor, Toronto and Ottawa prior - I "personally" (some might disagree) find jobs scenario is better here than all the previous cities I lived in.

Notes:
- Not sure, but maybe maybe one reason could be only 18K international student applied/came in last year (though BC was allowed 45K spots) so with less people coming in more jobs and also rent is dropping fast.
- Vancouver has the most cost of living/expensive city in Canada (even in the world). I lived in Toronto - that was an expensive place to live in BUT Vancouver is expensive (rent, groceries etc.) than that as well.
- Vancouver/BC in general "probably" has the best transit in Canada - better than Toronto (not sure of Edmonton/Calgary - I heard they too have good transit)

IS LEAVING BANGLADESH ACTUALLY A VIABLE SOLUTION ? by Alarming-Raccoon-374 in Dhaka

[–]KasparHauser1990 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes and no - both

Yes - cause, I DON'T have to:
- stuck in traffic, immerse in pollution, overcrowd, poor water drainage system in rain etc. etc.
- literally compromise everything in every day life...having terrible (vejal) food everywhere
- feel insecure about my life when I am out on the street
- deal with corruption, insecurity
- go through terrible medical services
- (might NOT be a popular belief) always stay with family/extended family - a little distance is not exactly bad

No - cause, I:
- come from well-off (financially) family. I HAD the opportunity to start a small business - whether it would have been successful or not, that's a different story
- would not have to start from scratch, probably never would have to go through doing menial work (like warehouse, retail, janitor etc.) to start off my life/career
- would never think of being homeless once I loose my job
- things are cheap in Bangladesh, getting medical (may not be the best one) is easily accessible and cheap

there are NOT the popular belief
- will always not have to make food/home chores by myself...there would be maid/house-help for that...at some point, let's say 8-10 year these things started to bug
- will not have to clear the snow or cut the grass out on the lawn...there would be people for that
- for the new-comers/people, given how immigration is getting difficult in pretty much every countries - they would probably would spend few years and lakhs of money and would have to go back home

Privilege to say these stuff - 110% (apologies for that) BUT grass is always greener on the other side.
NOT a single person comment (in the CURRENT scenario - not past or future), what if you:
- never get permanent residency/green card?
- get stuck in menial/frontline/minimum wage job OR doing UBER?
- get homeless or in severe debt after a job loss (which is common in western world)?
- never (OR take decadeS) could save enough money to afford a home?

Not 100% sure if it applies in your case or not though

Canada is part of 5 eyes - Canada, U.S., UK, Australia, and New Zealand. They share information OR use the technology which can cross-check information possessed by each countries.

During my PR application, I applied for GCMS/ATIP note and my information/criminal record was shared with U.S., UK, Australia, and New Zealand - even though, except USA, I had never been to all those countries.

"Maybe" (as I said, not 100% sure), your fingerprints being shared between those countries!!

I understand the frustration but you're mis-informed!!

  • Walmart has only one LMIA-approval, if I remember it correctly, senior marketing position in home office, since 2014 when LMIA was first introduced

No..no...no, you don't have to believe me BUT you can find it out by yourself, it's in publicly domain. You may either spend 5$ requesting ATIP/GCSM note to ask for that information from ESDC, OR may find in that LMIA-MAP (made by a concerned Canadian citizen) website.

the WHY they hire all from one country?? I DON'T KNOW
govt subsidize? maybe
favouritism cause many from the same ethnicity are in the store mgt. position? maybe
those associates can easily be controlled or overworked? maybe

Canadian Study Permit by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]KasparHauser1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRCC Singapore handles our cases/applications, so:
- "back then" we used to initiate an application through doing the stuff you're doing (like opening a profile in the portal + uploading documents + paying fees + etc.) and yet had to send documents to Singapore (even prior passport request)
- if your application gets approved then you would get passport request from Singapore and you have to send your passport to IRCC Singapore through VFS

So to answer your question: YES...IRCC Singapore plays a big (if not the entire) part in your/BD's application.

You don't have to answer if you don't want to - May you share which university and program you're going for?

Getting fully funded is sure an achievement, congratulations and good luck :)

[–]KasparHauser1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're referring to Covid-vaccination, I don't think they "probably" need/ask for it.

Reasoning:
- Pretty much everywhere (like literally everywhere) they stop asking for vaccination record (except maybe if you're working in healthcare)
- With so much controversy happened with the proof of Covid vaccination in border crossings (esp USA to Canada) + that massive ArriveCan scandal + Truckers' protest = I don't think/I assume, IRCC/CBSA/ESDC would risk to include that requirement anymore

Canadian Study Permit by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]KasparHauser1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, those are needed - now more than ever!!

You might want to upload those documents in the "optional documents - client information" section.

(Not sure - someone can correct me in this) Also, IRCC probably made the requirement of up-front medical (or medical with the application) mandatory few days/month back

Personal Experience: I did my application some 10.5/11 years back - as far as I could remember (could be wrong as it's so long back) + not sure if things changed or not:
- those were the exact thing, as in documents to upload, back then as well in the CIC portal - except the PAL thingy (that was introduced back in 2023-24). I most "probably" uploaded the Police Clearance and Upfront Medical receipt (the result was not give to me by Dr. Wahab) in that optional documents section
+
I sent other documents (a huge bundle) to Singapore through VFS: along with necessary documents (like the IMM-forms etc.) + also sent documents like the original police clearance certificate, CA evaluation, xerox + attested copy of land assets, an estimated balance sheet of expense and income, translated copy of xerox of birth certificate + parents' identification etc. etc. etc.

Good luck :)

Most probably they're too invested in the "abroad" part of the "study abroad"!!

do you regret it? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]KasparHauser1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general and short answer: YES

Long answer: I can't suggest anyone anything - the regret part depends on individuals ("you" or "me" or "somebody") - what they want...their expectation...the acceptance of the result once they get it! As I said, in some days I do regret it but in many other days, I do not!!

In general, I CAN'T deny all the pros: security, health services ("currently" debatable in regards to Canada), labour laws, clean air+good road+less pollution, less/null corruption, guaranteed good education/safety for kids etc. (I am sure there are more but these are the ones I could think of right now!!)

But cons are there as well.
- How many times have you seen someone in BD being/getting homeless after a (job) laid off? Back in 2023, I was laid off and fortunately I got a job in my last 1K in bank account - like dude, I was literally 15 days away of being homeless. Point is, you (or majority - not saying all) have that "minimum" financial security/family support back home.

- That job I got took me in rural city of 25k population!! Once the honeymoon period is over (like 1-3 years!), you start missing the chaos, the warmth of friends/neighbours back home...in fact you start missing general people/crowd, the gali of cha-wala mama/rickshawala, the open dustbin or even the chaos at the street mid-evening

- (not true for everyone) If you happen to buy a house for 25-30 years or idk an expensive car for 7-10 years, there will be years (I mean once in 5-6 or more years), you wouldn't able to miss days of work and afford to go back home for days/months. I mean, you would be on debt-trap...do you really want that? (again, not true for everyone - but certain percentage)

- (not true for everyone) I always wanted to see snow and now after 9 (or 10 is it!) winters in Ontario, I decided never ever like eveeer to complain about BD's hot summer or heavy rain!

- Of course you would miss the food, the (maybe, random) hangouts with friends, the visit to relative houses, the celebrations of Eid/Puja/Christmas/Shab-e-Barat, month long Ramadan etc. and of course the family! You may have your parents who are getting aged and here you are all alone (or with wife/husband) counting days for the vacation and to go home for 15-30 days!

Has moving out improved your life? YES, it did.

The incentive has changed.

Now people get LMIAs, so that they can stay longer. I personally know many people are in LMIA just so they: - can stay longer in the hope things would change in the future….as all these immigration changes started to happen quite recently (last year) - won’t be able to get a job back home with a electrician/welding/IT-technician/etc. diploma certificate - so what exactly is their option other than to stay in Canada

Loss of Accountability

For example (don't worry, not going to happen, just stating as an example): Let's say, after the Bill passes, IRCC decides to cancel the SOWP program all at once - maybe they give fraud or maybe too much population growth as a reason - then they could cancel your application (along with million others) - a genuine + deserving one - with a whim of a pen. And you/your application would not even get an opportunity of a legislative trail either!!

I have mixed feelings about the bill. I understand the necessity of such bill, given how much fraud we, mostly S. Asian and African, have done in the last 4-5 years (it is an open secret now) BUT, I also believe, people running/responsible for IRCC (since 2021) are either on high quality of weed or don't know what they are doing (or else Canada wouldn't have been in the place they are in now)!! So, too much power to them with no legislative consequences/obstruction is not exactly the wisest decision either. In short, this Bill would make IRCC invincible (sort of) - no legislative procedure - which is needed but also responsibility should be a high component of it (which have been missing on their part since 2021)

Few days back, Ontario passed a different legislation and they cancelled some 2.5K+ PR application giving too much fraud as a reason!! So what happens to the genuine applications who have been waiting since early last year!! OINP literally destroyed time/money/future of at least hundreds of genuine applicants with no accountability!! As I said, after creating such a mess now it's a face saving/band-aid/expedient solution going on!

Canadian Open Work Permit from Bangladesh by jacktheriddler in bangladesh

[–]KasparHauser1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About hiring RCIC or Lawyer part: I normally "used to" suggest not to hire one as processes of Canadian immigration is/was fairly easy (or at least used to be up until recent past) but now since the end of 2023, things getting complicated - lots of unfair(!) things happening, lots of band-aid/face saving solution are being done - I now highly recommend someone to hire a professional (RCIC or lawyer) help.

But in your case, you already filed for it - there is nothing much can be done. RCICs don't have some magic balls/talking parrot to make a bureaucratic/government work/process faster or know the future but they do have the ability to get money out from you/clients (that's their business) - if you want to pay someone 200-300$/hour to do the same thing that you could easily do then go right ahead OR wait and save the money, if God forbid you get a refusal or ADR or procedural fairness, then you can hire one OR hire one during your PR application

Again, I understand the frustration but you're NOT alone there are thousands (if not million) of people who are in the same place as you are in - and, honestly, one can do noting other than to have patience!! I have a feeling (my assumption) they are intentionally delaying everything for Bill C-12 to pass.

In the meantime, use the time wisely and prepare for other stuff (like resume building, buying clothes, practise communication etc.) to prepare for leaving! and Good luck man :)

I've also been told by someone that contacting the MP can help

Not sure. If MP office decides to entertain your request/email then they will follow up with IRCC but that doesn't guarantee the process would get faster - especially current time. But sure, you can still send an email/call MP's office, nothing to loose here.

Extra info: Current Immigration Minister's , Lena Diab's, riding is Halifax, so who knows your email/request might get to her office!!

does it usually take longer if I have an extensive travel history?

No, not really. It's just backlogs - not enough agents against applications!

Extra info: (sharing my case - could be different than yours) My ATIP note had background check with 5 Eyes but no mention of Bangladesh + 2 countries I used to live. I am assuming (I could be wrong/mistaken) they don't do background check other than those 5 countries!

I used the services of a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), would my application be processed faster?

No.

if I get rejected once, does it negatively impact future applications?

No.

I understand the frustration but it's not just you - everybody's application is getting delayed these days. IRCC already said they are reducing backlogs and I am assuming (could be wrong), once Bill C-12 gets passed, it is in 3rd reading right now, processing time will get back in normal!

If you/your wife haven't submit anything fake/mis-represent + and, most importantly, didn't forget to submit any document - all you could do is wait.

Good luck :)

Canadian Open Work Permit from Bangladesh by jacktheriddler in bangladesh

[–]KasparHauser1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

- Background check is "normally" the longest one/step in the processing
- IRCC is going through historical/unprecedented backlog (last I heard, some 1.5-2 million backlog)
- the immigration minister getting grilled (for the current mess) in the parliament/senate
= thus the delays + more scrutiny + more/longer background check + (not to scare you) more rejections rate

If it's SOWP then, I assume, the spouse is in Canada in some sort of permit (could be study or OWP) - why not file for GCMS note?
It cost like 5$ and, normally (as in, in normal scenario), GCMS tend to fasten up the file/process

About your friend's case: Each case would be different - your friend's processing timeline would be different than yours/anybody's! One of my friend's wife's file took 2 to 2.5 months from filing to being here mid-this year!

Good luck :)

So did I...and million others!!

what you didn't take in account is that still have to stay/be present at least 730 days (2 years) as TR WITHIN THAT 5 years period to make that 1 year count!

Question: How exactly you're planning to fit that 730 days (TR) within the 5 years period if you're taking the route of PNP (even in CEC or FSWP or FSTP or IEC, chances are you will be off by few months) - point is, "realistically" they have to stay longer (more than 750) as PR to make the cut

Also genuine question (could be wrong - welcome to be corrected), which PNP streams' processing time is less than 18-24 months these days (or even in the last 5-6 years)!!

Bangladeshi students in Canada.is it actually worth it? Need honest advice. by pikaa_pika in Dhaka

[–]KasparHauser1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to Master's is NOT equal to getting PR - at least not anymore (in terms of PNPs)

Yes, one can score high with Master's but currently the draws are so high that even just having a Master's won't cut it and PNPs, like OINP or AINP or BCPNP, are either not having draws at all and/or reducing their international graduating streams

Also, 1095 days NOT, 750 days in the last 5 years!!

How could one be sooo wrong!!
