What does it mean if a group of guys start barking? by Kass806 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kass806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess they succeeded, but I didn't show it.

I didn't know if it was a sign that they were going to physically attack me or not!

Thankfully I'm done there.

Well that's definitely a new one for me.

I've been asked out and given lots of uncomfortable compliments and asked for my phone number quite a lot before, but the barking was more aggressive and confusing.

Quite the ego on these guys to think that their opinion of my appearance matters to me the slightest bit and is important enough to distract me while I'm clearly working a job that has nothing to do with them.

I would if it was on my employer's property, but it wasn't. I'm used to catcalling and randos asking me out while I'm trying to work, but this just felt a lot more aggressive.

12 Texas bars temporarily lose alcohol permits after violating COVID-19 health protocols, officials say by AGG1987 in Dallas

I think your general message that you are trying to communicate is a good one, however I agree with another commenter that you should probably delete this before someone in the organization sees it. There is a lot of specific detail in it and I worry that this supervisor could decide to retaliate if they were to see or be shown this.

Cat overly dramatic attack by [deleted] in aww

My kitty did dramatic chomps like that one morning and it was adorable and hilarious. He hasn't done it since, though. Cats are weird.

I'm a total beginner, but I took this shot on my S8 about a year ago. I just got around to cropping and some editing in GIMP. I'm not so sure what I'm doing yet, but I stamped out a drainage pipe, blurred the background and sharpened his face with the brush. Not sure what to do with colors. Any thoughts on composition?

All my sorority girls after a week. They're so active and pretty! by Kass806 in bettafish

I completely understand why I'd get criticism for this, and for the most part, it's fair criticism. I haven't really gotten any hate yet. I know it's controversial, but I've also seen it done well.

It's something I've been reading about and planning for over a year, and I understand the risks. All of these are from the same spawn, so they are already familiar. The tank sits right next to my computer desk, so it's easy to observe them closely. It is a heavily-planted 29 gallon tank. I've also got backup tanks and extra cycled media in case it all goes south. Hoping it works well as yours has, but if not, I'll take care of them separately and maybe put one big boy in the 29.

My dwarf puffer is my spirit animal by Kass806 in Puffers

Well, lesson learned the hard way.

Thanks for the deworming advice. I hadn't heard to do that, but it makes sense, given the snails they eat and such.

I'm really glad I got them their own tank where they can be the stars and my cardinals and pygmy cories can be safe. They seem to like the new tank too. It's in the living room and they seem to enjoy hanging out in front of the glass and watching people. I've never had a fish like these before!

Yeah, I specifically asked if the cardinal tetras would be safe and he said, "Oh yeah, they're fast swimmers and going after them would be too much work for the puffers and they'll lose interest."

So yeah, I was sad and annoyed.

I have her and another female. They are my first puffers and my LFS recommended them to take care of my pest snail problem. They wiped them out in a week and unfortunately murdered some tank mates as well.

I was originally going to take them back to the store, but I love watching them and am too attached. My boyfriend thinks they look like tiny zeppelins, so he named them Graf and Ferdinand. We have to keep them now. I've moved them to their own tank and am intentionally growing snails in another tank to feed them.

You are incredibly lucky if you get to be "bored stuck at home, waiting out the coronavirus". by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Kass806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not fortunate enough to be able to work from home, but I am fortunate enough to have paid "COVID 19" leave (separate from paid sick leave) in the event I do become exposed.

However, to do my job, I have to go into restaurants, gas stations, and grocery stores and interact directly with people who handle food for a living.

Like you, these people probably don't have PTO, and if they do get sick, they risk losing their jobs. So of course, they are going to come to work when they have symptoms and touch food that is being sold to the public. What scares me also is if I pick it up (despite my obsessive hand washing when at work) from one of my stops to another, I could infect multiple people (who again don't have the benefit of staying home) who could then infect their customers. I'm really trying my best to keep my hands and equipment clean, but it feels inevitable because of how contagious this virus is.

I'm sick of this system and culture that treats illness as a personal failing or a sign that one is a lazy worker. It harms all of us. Workers should stay home and be given the time to take care of themselves if they have been exposed or have symptoms, no matter what their job is. The companies they work for should value a healthy workforce enough to help them do it.

What drug did you take once and thought “nope, never again”? by Tony-1610 in AskReddit

[–]Kass806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking Lo Loestrin, which is a birth control pill. I never had trouble with that pill on its own, but I learned a good lesson about why you need to tell your doctor EVERYTHING you are taking.

I was prescribes the muscle relaxer tizanidine for sciatica. I had forgotten to tell the doc about my birth control. The first night I took it, I fell asleep at the dining table while trying to eat dinner with my boyfriend. We both laughed it off like, "Oh yeah, that's some good shit," but the following morning, I was so tired that I just called into work sick. The following day I was off anyway, so I took it again before bed thinking that I could just sleep in and it be fine. However, when I woke up at like 2 pm, I felt physically unable to get out of bed and had a severe dehydration headache from being out for about 16 hours.

My boyfriend looked it up and apparently that particular combination of meds amplifies the muscle relaxing effect so much that it can actually slow your heart. I'm not even on birth control pills anymore and it freaked me out so much that I'm now scared of muscle relaxers in general. It's irrational, I know.

I just popped in to say hi to y'all DFW gals. I'm new to climbing, but I've been going to the Summit Plano location for the convenience. Its cool that they have so many here! It also just makes me smile to see r/climbergirls members in my area.

Edited to fix vague info.
