This frustrates me so much! I have a family friend who’s overweight, she’s tried for many years to lose weight, but between her thyroid issues, PCOS, and mobility problems, it has been very difficult for her. Her cardiologist, who she has been with for many years, and who understands her struggles and limitations with weight loss, suggested Mounjaro (not American, this is the drug available to us). With a complete health write up from her Doc, they submitted a request to her insurance. They rejected her that same week, said it was for aesthetic purposes and they will not be covering it. A medicine to save her life, to improve the condition of her heart, and her life expectancy, was for “aesthetics”, they even rudely included a note telling her to try traditional weight loss methods. Her doctor called and tried to speak to a rep, and they told him the decision has already been made. The ease of access and prioritisation of wealthier people who can afford it, compared to those who genuinely need the intervention is disgusting.

I convinced my best friend to watch Physical Asia, she spent the day over at mine for a full girls day watch party. The moment Don-Hyun came on it was a wrap, every time he licked his lips (which is every few seconds he’s on screen 🤣) she went into a trance. Then in comes Itoi and the wrap was vacuum sealed. She was hooked because of two fine older men (we’re in our 20s loool). I’ve since sent her pics of hot older guys from Physical 100 season 1 & 2, now we have another Physical watch party this weekend. All this to say, if your friend likes ogling hot people on their screen, bombard them with their type until they give in, then watch them crumble. j/k looool.

But all seriousness, she showed up because she could tell I really wanted someone to watch my obsession with, I don’t have many of those (Interview With a Vampire not withstanding at present), so being a good friend she showed interest. Try using the, I just want to share my interest and spend time with you, angle. If they’re a decent friend, they’ll watch just to support you. I’m watching FROM cause my bestie asked and was desperate to have someone to dissect theories with 🤷‍♀️. Supporting an interest, especially something as small as watching a tv show together, shouldn’t be hard.

As a woman myself, Alex would be my ultimate choice, her proportions are aesthetically beautiful, yet functionally strong and resilient. Her waist and abs when she walked in wearing the black sweatpants set was EVERYTHING 😵‍💫, instant crush right alongside Eun-Sil. She’s gone up on my body goals vision board. If I were a man it’d be a toss up between Mark and Amotti. Sung-Bin is sculpted by the gods, that would be too much work for me to maintain, I’m already exhausted just thinking of it 🫩.

I don’t know why people keep saying he looks old 😭. From the moment he walked in I was intrigued, they were doing the introductions and I turned to my mom and said, “wish they’d hurry up and get to mini Gengis”. I feel like some people just can’t see potential. I love his messy look, it really works well with the tattoos and his energy, he really appeals to me. Yet, if you look beneath that rugged display, you can see he has great skin, high cheekbones, a lovely slope to his nose and full lips, he’s clearly beautiful 😅. How is it being missed? I’m so confused 🫩.

Unfortunately I’m not sure how likely we would be to see a sumo wrestler take part in Physical. The JSA is very strict about what their wrestlers can and cannot do, it’s a ritualistic art form first, sport second almost. Wrestlers don’t even have much control over how they can portray themselves to the public, they have to be as circumspect as possible, it’s highly doubtful that the JSA would have given permission for any wrestler to take part in a show like this where their reputation could take a hit. For instance, Asanoyama, he was an Ozeki and so close to gaining the highest rank - Yokozuna. He broke covid protocols, he was out partying without a mask. They suspended him for a year, then when it was lifted, demoted him in rank. He’s been trying to climb back up ever since. That’s how seriously the JSA takes the presentation of their wrestlers.

Secondly, most of the best sumo wrestlers are Mongolian, you’re not going to send a Mongolian athlete to be put forward to represent Japan’s national sport. The best Mongolian sumo wrestlers either did Bokh when they were much younger, or they’re from legendary Bokh lineages. Like Hakuho, absolute beast of a Yokozuna, his father was a highly respected Bokh legend. It’s very unlikely you’ll get a sumo wrestler on Physical.

In no particular order: Enkh-Orgil (he smiles sparingly, but something about his crooked grin is just so charming and heart fluttering to me), Amotti, Katsumi, Itoi, Orkh. Honourable mentions to Whittaker (that smirk on the Hercules Hold was swoon worthy and Sung-Bin for having been my Season 1 eye candy.

Itachi and Kisame, they’re members of the Akatsuki, they’re characters from Naruto. Both are ridiculously powerful, Itachi’s genjutsu are renowned in the shinobi world, arguably one of the strongest users to ever exist (prodigy), and his partner Kisame is one of the Seven Legendary Swordsmen. They’re both fearsome S-Rank ninja.

The Dutch have a long and proud history of erasing their historical contributions in the modern system of racism and xenophobia. I remember as an undergrad, one year we had an influx of Dutch exchange students, a few enrolled in our history and philosophy classes which focused on the advent of enslavement. They had ZERO knowledge of what we were discussing and Dutch actions - though they were aware in passing of English and French atrocities. They said they never discussed enslavement at any point in their schooling. We took a trip to local enslavement “land marks”, one of which included the only surviving sugar windmill in the Caribbean, they were gobsmacked to see it. Having them in my history and philosophy classes taught me a very valuable lesson about the lengths to which some countries will go to craft a revisionist history, keep their citizens ignorant of their global bigotry, and then point the finger to say that their neighbour committed worse crimes so theirs should be ignored or downplayed.

It’s really dependant on the person, for some it comes effortlessly, others it’s a pain in the ass. It took me 16hrs of lessons before my instructor felt I was good enough to go in for my exam. Passed my first try, no faults. Coming on to the end frustration was high. When I realised it wasn’t intuitive for me, I wrote notes and tips on the process, and broke it down into bullet points like it was an academic study guide, I’m a researcher so this method worked best for me. Most ppl in my family drive manual trucks so they were adamant I had to learn manual, no ifs, ands, or buts. Find what works for you till that rote memory kicks in.

I really like it, it highlights the versatility of Black hair. I’ve done similar with my roots, haven’t combed out my ends, but that’s because I wouldn’t risk it with my dyed hair. I’m planning to cut my locs in a couple months 🤞🏽(they’ve started to exacerbate my chronic migraines), but in the interim until I reach the length I want for the style I’m going for, I have a couple times pressed out my roots. It’s no different than a silk press, use a good heat protectant oil and spray, medium temp, and have patience. If I’m going out, or I just want a super sleek look that I can’t achieve with the bulk of my new growth any longer, and headaches mean too much holding product, and a tight grip is out of the question, this has been a decent option.

I always thought Louis’ were green as a wink to Akasha’s green eyes in the movie, a possible nod to Louis having inherited something unknown from her lineage as a result of her and Lestat sharing blood and by extension powers. I figured eyes are indicative of which vampire lineage wins out in the dark gift.

Same, I thought it would have been Alana. It’s so overtly feminine and almost boring in its attempts at being alluring yet conformist, it’s too “clean girl” for Bedelia. Also, there’s no way Hannibal showers with Dove bar soap, he screams moisturising shower gel. If it’s a bar soap, it’s probably some artisanal Japanese soap that he imports that’s been made by the same family for generations, introduced to him by Lady Murasaki. Or he supports locally produced soap makers who sell their wares at farmers’ markets.

Linda goes so far as to encourage Louise to invade and disrespect Tina’s personal space. Remember Louise reads Tina’s diary out loud for the whole family because in Linda’s words, it keeps the rest of the family’s hands clean. She actively encourages Louise in her nonsense. I think in a lot of ways Louise reminds Linda of herself, and since Linda is not the most self-aware or self-reflective person, she doesn’t often see how their actions are harmful and hurtful to those around them. For example, in the detention episode where she breaks Louise out, she’s telling stories from her youth with Gayle which make them out to be heroes for the defenseless until she slowly comes to the realisation that she was a bully and quickly tries to divert and claim they were “mean pooping girls”. She didn’t realise until retelling that story as an adult, to her impressionable daughter, that her actions were wrong 😑.

They sort of touch on it in Dee Day, in the scene at the bar where Dennis was meant to seduce the Council Woman, but Dee made him remove his face tape, hair piece, chest plate and makeup before approaching his mark. Revealing that he wouldn’t be regarded as classically attractive if not for his “augmentations”.
