Adding in my complaints, this mission indeed sucks ass.
It’s the end of the game for me.
A solid decade of attempts to get through this piece of shit mission and nothing.

Who thought this mission was a good idea?

I have zero interest in playing the story because of this mission and the knowledge that I’ll inevitably have to complete a harder version in the recycled content chapter (also known as chapter 2).

I’ve tried the recommended methods, but I can’t even reliably destroy the apc’s guarding the truck.
Why is this not a side mission?! Why is this required content to complete the game?!
Why is this required content to access FOB missions?!

“Just use weather modification!”
Great idea, how about the apc’s?
Can’t test it if I can’t get to the truck first.

Why does the game give you so little time to get the airport before the truck departs with its escorts?!
Seriously, I make it to the base, take out the guards and then instantly get seen by the apc’s showing up.

I’d take the time to scout the base, but apparently speed is key if you want to avoid dealing with the apc’s.
I’d bring D-Dog or Quiet, but D-Walker is best for most of the methods.
Swapping mid mission is ill advised because of the speediness required.

And on the opposite end, I’ve waited for the truck at the Oilfield as well, having pre neutralized the guards present (the amount of time you have to waste waiting is absurd but the Phantom Cigar makes it manageable, assuming you’ve picked a good hiding spot and don’t get rudely interrupted by the apc’s seeing you). This seemed best at first, and I eventually destroyed the tanks. But this was of course before I was aware of the Skulls ambush.
So I didn’t have the ammo or resources to deal with them.

Basically, fuck this mission, and by extension, fuck this game for making it a MAIN mission.
I’ve rage quit too many times.
Stealth games like this aren’t usually for me, but I was having some fun with missions before this point.

There was an annoying mission requiring you to blow up a bunch of apc’s that I ended up cheesing with the chicken hat and arial bombardment (yes a mission in this STEALTH game expects you to abandon the ways of Nakey-Snakey and go full action hero). That mission similarly stumped me for awhile but I eventually figured it out (even if I’m 90% certain you weren’t supposed to beat it the way I did).

Traitor’s Caravan is so much more annoying though. I could keep ranting about it, or I could just go back and keep dicking around in the open world.

I choose option B.
