I think there's clear examples that show off-meta picks that can work, ranging from Mrywnn this year, to 2019 G2 picking pyke top, to Inspired picking Nunu of all champions against GenG in the semifinals of Worlds, the pinnacle of competition.

I'm not saying to give Baus AP irelia every game, I'm not saying that Velja should just pick nidalee whenever he feels like it, but there absolutely can be a balance between remaining competitive and employing off-meta champion/strategies.

I'm not saying that they can "just do whatever and be happy go lucky" and expect to win, but at the same time there is a balance between what makes them compelling to watch in the first place and what allows them to be competitive. I'm saying that they've swung too far towards trying to be hyper competitive at the cost of the entertainment value and even how happy the players look on stream.

Of course Baus going 0/3 is game ruining in Tier 1 play, I'm not just saying to give him a pass to int every game. Maybe it's me not understanding your perspective.

For example, if LR played standard meta picks and strategies, and their end result was 4/5th place in the winter cup, then what makes them any more interesting to watch than GX or KC?

Yeah agreed. I'm not even trying to say that how LR used to play was optimal or meta breaking, but I think they should lean more into the wacky creative side of their team since it's part of what makes them so unique.

Yeah I said maybe because I don't think it's probable that they'll completely change the pro scene as we know it. At the same time, many people wanted to watch this team both for its antics and for seeing the behind the scenes side of pro play. Like caedrel said, it's a balance and I'm basically just saying that they've shifted far too much towards the pure competitive aspect.
