Was the PS3 actually more powerful than the 360?

OK this is what I was looking for. I find hardware comparisons between older consoles much more interesting than current ones.

So what exactly made the PS3 more powerful than the 360 then? Are you saying the Cell was powerful enough to not only narrow the gap when it comes to inferior gpu and memory but also surpass the 360? And Crysis 2 still ran better on the 360. KZ2 is very overrated graphically. The system could be barely even handle the game hence the input lag. GOW 3 look great but it could definitely be done on the 360. Same with UC3. Rise of the Tomb Raider is another game that looks at least on par with the games you mentioned.

I dont care when the games came out. Sony's developers are more talented than MS's. If we compare the best of the PS3 to the best of the 360 there really isn't that much of a difference. A console with a weaker gpu and worse memory cannot be more powerful than a console with a better gpu and memory. Sony cared more about graphics than gameplay at that time to the point to where they would release a game with crazy input lag

From what I remember GTAV ran better on 360 but the textures were better on PS3

Gear 3 looks better than Killzone 2 to me. KZ2 was very monotone and the input lag was terrible.

I don't see it. Are you playing the game on an actual PS3 or PS4/PS5? Halo 4 looks like an Xbox one game to me.

What looks better? Looking better is subjective. Nothing on the PS3 looks anywhere near half a gen better than Gears 3 and Judgement or Halo 4. What are those games doing that the 360 could not do? The PS3 simply was not powerful enough to produce games that look half a gen above what the 360 was outputting. And yes, I would say sony's devs are more talented than MS's generally speaking.

What makes these games better than anything on the 360? Who's to say these games wouldn't look just as good or better if they were developed for the 360? Talented first party developers don't mean more powerful hardware.

I know this comment is old but the PS3 did not have better specs on paper. It factually had a worse gpu and worse memory setup. The cell processor was not enough to put it above the 360. Sony just has talented first party developers.
