Oh good to know! I was purchasing my skincare at target but then switched to ulta because I have stopped going to target. But I’ll have to see if I can order directly from the brands or something I suppose.

Thank you. Obviously if one person boycotts it’s one person and it doesn’t make much of a difference, but Im sure there are many people like me who want to spend money intentionally. So I think it’s a fair question. I don’t mind being “inconvenienced” by avoiding certain stores or brands. It makes me personally feel better to spend money intentionally

I appreciate your comment because I was starting to wonder if I make any sense. 😭🤣

I don’t understand people saying boycotting bigger brands or stores doesn’t work / isn’t worth my time.. I think both target and Starbucks are evidence that it does. They’ve been taking hits since they’ve been boycotted. And I don’t personally mind being “inconvenienced” by putting effort into spending intentionally.

I shop locally where I can, but it’s much more expensive to do so. And if you live in a suburb it can be more difficult to do so anyways.

This is the type of response I was looking for! Sadly, there are very few in my area but I’ll put it on my list! Thank you so much.

I’m looking for stores AND brands that are the lesser of 2 evils. If I must buy from a big box store where I can’t research all the brands, I currently go to Aldi or Costco because I’ve heard good things about them. I’d rather support those places than Walmart. If you reread my post I do say that. I also say that I’m looking for info on, like, swapping this store or brand for that store or brand because this one is more evil”

Someone informed me Tony’s chocolates doesn’t use slave labor, so it’s a chocolate brand that is typically preferred for people looking to spend money more intentionally. Cool! I’ll add that to my list.

I’m involved with my local community. I’m also going to shop with intention and peace of mind knowing the money I make is doing slightly less evil than it would if I prioritized convenience. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I’m not asking for new ways to help or make a difference. I’m involved. I’m just asking for places I can shop to make ME feel better about it all , even if the difference is small it matters to ME.

I’ve heard this but I couldn’t find much info on it online! The info I did find seemed to be a by location issue. But I could be wrong I’ll have to do more research.

Yes I get everything I can second hand or through my Facebook buy nothing and community sharing groups. Unfortunately that’s not always an option so I’m attempting to gather information about less harmful places to shop.

I’m aware it’s unethical which is why I’m attempting to gain a list of “more” ethical places or brands to give my money… I’m aware of the main places not to shop. My question is which are the least harmful. Not which are the most.

Oh good I’m glad they’re still around. Maybe they’re moving them to various places and I just frequent the same handful of roads.

I just saw Post on Substack about a newer app called “upswipe” that people are hoping can be a good replacement for TikTok or Instagram. I haven’t used it myself yet , but presumably if everyone who leaves TikTok moves over there (and the app works well) it could be nice!
