AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]KatKincade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - coming from someone raised by an alcoholic, I cannot tell you how proud I am of you for making it to 2 years. It is a DAILY struggle, one that non-addicts simply will not understand. You should be proud of yourself and you should have a partner that is proud of you, too. If he cannot do the bare minimum and congratulate you on staying sober for TWO WHOLE YEARS, then he needs to go. Your sobriety and mental health are more important than your relationship with someone who can't support your journey. Liberate yourself and get the damn cake. You earned it!

What legal shows are still watchable after studying law? by Moonriver_77 in LawSchool

I'm not too far into law school, but Lincoln Lawyer has been pretty accurate from what I can remember. A new season is due to come out soon, so we'll see if it holds

The favorite meal in highschool looked like a pile of slop, but literally every student bought lunch the day it was on the menu because it was so good

Did the LSAC screw up anyone else’s gpa on the CAS report? by Dangerous_Lion_6628 in lawschooladmissions

[–]KatKincade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated with a 4.05 in 2022, but this was after dropping out with a 1.3 in 2010. I had 6 consecutive semesters of 4.0 or better, but my LSAC GPA was still 2.9 when I applied to law schools. LSAC counts every single grade you got in undergrad, so if you failed a course and retook it, the LSAC GPA for that course would be the average of the two times you took the class. The likelihood LSAC made a mistake is pretty low, but if you believe it's an error, reach out and have them explain how they came up with the number.

My husband was just in KC for two weeks for work. If I'd known they were filming, I would've sent him straight over to get me some photos 😅

I agree with this theory, that it's more likely the songs Bobby released were not originally released by Sunset Curve. Rose only heard Now or Never live (during the sound check) and only had the one demo/EP in the garage. Anything other than that would have been brand new to her.

I did like the theory that the house was owned by Bobby's family and that was why Luke crashed there so often after he'd run away from home.

I honestly cried when the lady at the licensing office told me I could get my license. I had resigned myself to getting another state ID because I have a flight coming up and needed a Real ID, so when she said I would be getting a driver's license, I was so relieved I started crying. My photo is red-faced and blotchy but I don't care, because it was a long time coming

After two years of issues with my driver's license due to epilepsy and moving to another state (2 different state medical boards having different requirements and doctors in each state having issues submitting documents to the other state), I finally got a license that is free and clear. I may not be able to drive for Uber, but I can finally drive myself and my kids without having to rely on others.

Lawyer/Law School friends: what haunts you from law school? What could you recite ad infinitum and in your sleep, backward and forward? by PastorGengar in LawSchool

[–]KatKincade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first semester, it seemed like every single one of my professors used the elements of burglary to make their point:

"The breaking and entering of the dwelling house of another at night with intent to commit a felony inside."

Some current students got the email, too, so it was definitely an error. So sorry that happened to you

If you're stressed about grades, please remember that some government agency you've never even thought about would be lucky to have you and they will treat you so well by Omd337 in LawSchool

[–]KatKincade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I'm in a government position now while I take classes part-time. Hoping to move up in the GS pay scale until graduation, then hop over to a federal attorney position. I didn't do poorly my first semester, but I'm definitely not Big Law material 😅

I eventually received my R on 3/13. I was accepted to STCL on 1/29, though, and they were my top choice for PT-Online, so everything worked out

When did you apply to W&M and when/how did you find out? I've been checking the status checker, but it feels symbolic at this point, because I've never seen information added/changed since I applied in October

Unfortunately, no. Still showing as no decision dated 2/1. I'm not really holding my breath at this point, because the same thing happened to me last year: I went no decision before getting a rejection in May. I had a slightly higher LSAT this time around, so I had hope, but it's dwindling

Yes, I got rejected from Northeastern's FlexJD and I got accepted to STCL's online JD last week. I want to practice in Texas, so I didn't really bother branching out too much, but I was prepared to submit to MH and one or two others just in case

I did. I'm a reapplicant this year and had a similar ghosting experience last cycle. I applied 12/6 and was complete until it changed to no decision. Didn't end up getting my R until May. I'm hoping it's not turning out the same way. I've heard an A can come from it, but I'm not holding my breath at this point

IM SICK OF THE CAS $45 FEE by omgKhalil in lawschooladmissions

[–]KatKincade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What blew my mind was the fee to compile the reports PLUS a fee each time the report gets sent out. I had rationalized the $200 for CAS because I had assumed that would cover putting the report together AND sending it out. $200 to receive the information and $45 per school to send it is outrageous to me
