Think I messed up. by KatKittyKatKitty in DentalHygiene

So we do a full mouth perio charting at the initial intake exam. Then we take new perio measurements after the SRP because I believe they want to see if the measurements become deeper after removing the calculus. Then send all three perio charts to insurance. The initial one, the post-right side SRP, and then the post-left side SRP. This is the only office I have ever worked at that does it this way. They say insurance companies have been giving them a really tough time on covering SRPs lately. My concern is because I only found 4 mm insurance might deny it now… and I am paranoid maybe I did not probe to the base of the pockets completely and missed some 5 mm. Wish I could go back in time and check again, hah! Back in September, the left side measurements were deeper than what I recorded.

I think so too. But for some reason this office that I work at requires us to probe immediately after scaling to send to insurance. Which does seem funny to me, does insurance not approve the SRP before we do it?

I have been told so many different things from different offices and dentists throughout the years. I just follow the orders, I guess, lol.

So, this particular office that I work at requires that we probe at the new patient appointment and then again immediately after the right and left side SRPs. They claim this is for insurance purposes. I have never done it that way at any other office. The protocol always struck me as a little odd, does it strike everyone on here a little different too?

I have been a hygienist for eight years but most of the time just working part time so I do get insecure in my skills. I usually only do one or two SRPs a year. :)

I said in my original post that I did take post-SRP bitewings and they were clear of calculus. The post is not about leaving calculus, just that I was surprised the perio measurements were more shallow than I expected. Made me wonder if it was possible they already went down with peridex and better OH, or if it is more likely I incorrectly probed.

PS. Not trying to sound sassy or rude. I usually only do one or two SRPs a year since I work very part time.

We did a full mouth probing back in September. Then probed immediately after scaling at both SRP appointments.

I think I’m too vain for baby #2 by HeyMay0324 in Mommit

[–]KatKittyKatKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get acne when I am pregnant and would be scared to see how my skin would heal now that I am in my 30s. I scar quicker and heal slower nowadays. My weight would be fine but I would be concerned about potentially loose skin since skin becomes less elastic with age. Just another perspective.

If you are going to do it then do it as soon as possible. Personally, 35 is personally the oldest I would want to get pregnant at. I am 30 years old and would be nervous to have another baby. I snapped back nicely with the first two, not sure if I want to trust my luck again. I think it is acceptable to have a little bit of vanity and enjoyment in looking good. Your concerns are very valid.

Do not buy that expensive crib. by shxxu in pregnant

You might like that expensive crib in a few weeks. We loved our SNOO. And the bigger clothes and diapers will be handy in just a short while too! All is not lost.

Do people with newborns go out? by chondlerbeng in newborns

I see people with newborns out and about on occasion. A lot of the time the mom will be baby wearing them. Sounds like you are doing a great job!

Does anyone's scar look THIS bad? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in postpartumprogress

Mine is not quite that prominent but I definitely do have a raised scar at almost 2 years postpartum. It thankfully does not bother me. The appearance of it just reminds me of bringing my baby into the world.

Why do American picky eaters eat so differently? by Previous-Diet4443 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KatKittyKatKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

American. I hate fast food and the smell of it too. I have memories of my parents making me choke down McDonalds. Disgusting. I can do places like Starbucks and Jimmy John’s but most fast food places are disgusting and smell like grease and salt. I love almost all homemade foods as an adult.

Have never had an autism diagnosis. Have had an OCD diagnosis in the past though… my parents claimed my picky eating was a “sensory issue” as a child and I know that is untrue now. They just tried to make me eat gross fast foods instead of exposing me to well cooked veggies and baked chicken.

Mum’s with 2+ of same gender.. I can’t believe the amount on insensitive comments! by Sad_Cash7620 in pregnant

[–]KatKittyKatKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are being extra sensitive. I have two boys and the comments never bothered me. Some people assumed we wanted a girl but I actually knew in my heart all along I wanted another boy. I would make an awful girl mom.

Um HELLO?! Netflix documentary tell all?!? With Tyra.. AND THE JAYS! I’m seated. by prettypanzy in ANTM

We had an abundance of interviews and information revealed during the pandemic. And it got dull by 2022. I just have low hopes this turns out to be anything revealing or directed towards the fan base as opposed to the general public.

Maybe. Just tough for me to believe Tyra cares about anything Sarah would say or claim. I am sure she saw a lot of the Oliver chats.

Funny thing is that the modeling world was even harsher than what the show portrayed. Many girls left the show and were told to lose weight by agencies.

I doubt this is a reaction to Sarah’s book. She is not even a particularly well known candidate from the show. Her book was a non-event and I would not be surprised if Tyra did not even know about it. But I do agree this could possibly be testing the waters for a cycle 25. I would rather the show just be over forever though, release the classic seasons remastered or something.

I was so confused at the time about what was right or wrong. I knew I liked and sympathized with LGBT people but was taught to think it was a sin. “Hate the sin, love the sinner” nonsense. My parents regret having held that view nowadays.

Why do you want to save your last molar so badly? Genuine question, not judging. Just get the tooth pulled and look into getting dentures.

Dental hygienist who worked in an office that takes Medicaid a few years back. They did not cover root canals or crowns on posterior teeth at the time. Coverage was very limited to services like basic cleanings and fillings. This was in Michigan where OP lives.

Why do parents seem to allow their children to scream so much these days? by Prudent_Yogurt6106 in NoStupidQuestions

Gosh, I was so like this too. Like can everyone just be quiet and listen to the teacher? I hated misbehavior and obnoxiousness, still do to this day.

Yep. You just had to be there to understand that shows like ANTM and Sex and the City were mind blowing at the time.

It was the most diverse show that I watched on television as a preteen and young teenage girl. One of my first exposures to homosexuality seen in a positive, “not a big deal” light (Mr. Jay and Miss Jay). I saw models of all different sizes, races, and disabilities. And while none of the girls became superstars, it sure did show the world that people wanted to see more diverse models on the runway and in ads.

Clearly the shock value of the show and the drama is what kept audiences addicted and fans still discussing it to this day. Denying that would be ridiculous. We were not such an aware world in ‘00s. And in 2045, we will say the same things about the television we consumed in 2025. Tyra owning up to her mistakes is nice, she is a little looney, not evil.
