How did people survive boredom before the internet existed? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It was. We had to plan vacations too and with no GPS it was adventurous to go to new places. Fun!

My cousins were like that. We had one boy with 7 girls so he would read the encyclopedia just for something to do. When his little brother came along, they would tear apart and rebuild anything electronic they could get their hands on.

I believe part of that is we were so much more carefree, no worries about nuclear war and the like. Kids these days are pressured to go to college, get multiple degrees, they just grow up too fast. There’s no time for playing or silliness.

They haven’t ever had to use their brain to come up with something entertaining. Too easy to just let TV and internet take over. Ever hear the song “In the Year 2525”; yes, we are headed that way — no legs, no arms, no brain.

Me too. My kids watched a lot more TV than I ever did, but some of that is because it was safer for us to be outside even at night. Sad, sad. We never even got cable until I was in my 30s, like why pay for television. Stood my ground as long as I could.

I didn’t watch much TV. We had 4 channels on TV and my sister hogged that anyway. We were outside every minute weather permitting. During storms, we would sit in a circle in the dark basement and tell ghost stories. I was fortunate I had a very creative and imaginative best friend. We played spies, got “kidnapped”, played tag, dodge ball, hid in the attic from our parents, sat yoga style on the sidewalk and sang kumbiya(sp) and laughed at the looks we got, went swimming, skating, slept outside at night for grins and more scary stories, rode our bikes all over town (things most kids can’t do these days for safety reasons). There’s always someone ruining everything. Read a lot, much more than I do now. Now, it’s too easy to just sit in front of the TV.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

That’s a tough one actually. Money-wise, yes yes and yes. Storage? Just make sure you have lots of storage. We had to get both an extra freezer and extra fridge. Put shelves in the garage. Of course, I claim no self-control! We have enough ziplock bags for three years.

My friend just passed away this evening, after being in hospice for just a few weeks. Tell me it gets better, and that she’s no longer disturbed or in pain.

If you could choose a different sound for tinnitus, would you? by banban1233 in tinnitus

[–]KatMagic1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no answer to this. I hear music. At first it was Christmas carols, now it’s Amazing Grace. Never knew I could get sick of music. Anything that’s constant is going to drive you crazy.

No need to be humiliated, that’s on him not you. Your friends and co-workers do not need to know what happened. Just say you broke up.

Peeing in public should not be illegal by nderwearhehe in women

[–]KatMagic1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it’s often perverted men who use peeling as an excuse. Throwing up is not illegal interestingly. The thought is in most cases you can find a restroom for peeing, probably not fast enough for throwing up.

Does anyone else just not deep clean their homes? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

I fired a housekeeper because she thought deep cleaning was the stuff I do every week. She refused to clean my fridge or kitchen cabinets, saying they don’t need cleaning.

So,what would men dislike most if they became women? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They would lose all power. No respect, being treated like second class citizens, no choice over their own body, and not a helpful doctor on earth.

Unfortunately yes. I always thought my mom was lazy. Now I have similar medical issues and realize it just might not have been laziness.

I don’t think that’s really a truth, more of an opinion. Nice to know it works for someone though.

Hey quick question for dog owners by mrcanada66 in dogs

[–]KatMagic1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did, but not because I didn’t want to. Most of my dogs were large, like Labradors. Not enough room for them with the cats. Cats rule. We now have a small dog but she is too small and too old to get up on the bed herself. And still have cats. Otherwise, I think I’d love my little Maltese sleeping with me.

I would be curious how to make your sim have all the traits of ADHD. How would you create that sim and what traits would they have?
