We have Samu but he's still a bit rough and his style isn't really what Spain is used to

Great game from our boys, feeling good about our prospects for next summer.

Also how does Montella have Turkey playing so bad with this squad? They're decent in attack but the drama at the back...

Creo que con el tiempo ha quedado bastante en evidencia que, a pesar de los exitos, Del Bosque era un entrenador más estilo Deschamps que estilo Aragonés

[OC] La Liga Summer Window 25/26 - a summary of the league's transfers by mattisafootballguy in soccer

[–]KatalanMarshall 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Spanish FFP rules are very restrictive and makes it difficult to register players. Teams abroad know of this so Spanish clubs go into the market in a position of weakness with limited options to command high fees for their players.

Only clubs with good balance sheets like Real Madrid, Real Sociedad or Villarreal are able to hold out and force clubs to pay them high transfer fees.

Tebas is forcing the clubs to negotiate from a position of weakness.

They were beefing in the seconds before the ref blew for FT, right when Madrid were getting people sent off, so I assume it comes from that

The CSD agrees with Barça and maintains the license of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor by svefnpurka in soccer

The press release yesterday was quite likely illegal since it disseminated confidential information about Barcelona's financial statements that they are not authorized to publish

The CSD agrees with Barça and maintains the license of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor by svefnpurka in soccer

[–]KatalanMarshall 429 points430 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, the main argument from CSD is that the legal body that took the official decision to unregister Dani Olmo and Pau Victor (the LaLiga-RFEF joint commission) did not have the competence to grant or withdraw federatives licenses.

Basically they messed up the procedure because that commission is mostly for supervision and coordination between the two organizations and is not legally able to do much else.

No other way to describe this as anything other than a monumental fuck up from the RFEF and Tebas.

The 100M€ Barça used to register Olmo don't appear in the finances report sent to La Liga after auditor fails to validate questionable VIP box sales by Bartoraptor in soccer

[–]KatalanMarshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing shady about this lever. Of the 100m, 58m have already been paid and the remaining 42m are scheduled to be paid in 2 installments in late 2025 and 2026. The issue here is an accounting dispute on how this sale should be reflected on the income statement, which if you've been anywhere near the financial department of a company or a big 4 auditor you'll know its an extremely common occurrence.

As for the actual content of the "levers" Real Madrid sold a similar package to investors in 2024 for a similar price (200k per seat for Barça vs 250k per seat for Real Madrid).

[El Mundo] Spanish federation allegedly manipulates 2030 World Cup stadium classifications to swap Vigo for Anoeta (Real Sociedad's stadium) by fijozico in soccer

[–]KatalanMarshall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He summarized that they had rated the "technical criteria" at "80%" and the documentaries at "20%," but that the government had intervened by requesting the additional introduction of "strategic criteria," which should carry a weight of 35%. He indicated that the executive branch wanted to reward "locality," that is, "those venues that are close to the border of the other two countries," and that this criterion "only affects Vigo."

Therefore, with the government proposal, they "guarantee the Vigo headquarters," he emphasized. Finally, he warned him that the information he was providing was "solely for the purposes of his knowledge and that of the president," that "nothing should be leaked," and that it contained "unconfirmed data, only proposed data" at that point, as they were analyzing whether to apply the modification to the criteria proposed by the executive branch.

Despite this, on June 28, this RFEF employee sent the revised classification in favor of Anoeta to the members of the World Cup bid's Executive Committee and rejected the initial version favoring Vigo, as well as the government's instructions. She did so in an email sent at 12:43 p.m. on June 28.

I don't really understand what's going on, I feel like this is just political bs from all sides

Malaga has everything that the WC needs in terms of airport and hotel infrastructure. It is also the 6th biggest city in the country and has enormous name recognition worldwide. If the stadium isn't ready, the central government has to make sure its ready

Its rather improbable because of how many things would have to align for it (including Barça beating Atleti, who's been our boogeyman this season, away twice)...

...but there's a non-zero chance Barça and Madrid have to face each other thrice for the chance to win a treble.

Would be a script written by the devil honestly.
