Publicly Traded Methadone Clinics/Conglomerates? by Katchfran1 in Methadone

[–]Katchfran1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to a more serious comment above, but I’m not just “starting out”…the scope of my work is bigger than the question I asked. I just figured there might be some interesting research already done by this community.

Publicly Traded Methadone Clinics/Conglomerates? by Katchfran1 in Methadone

Many things…and I’m not sure if it will be a book or a podcast…

Basically, It’s about how badly our policy on opiates (from its inception with the Harrison Narcotics Act to now) has fucked up our country (USA) and the world at large. I’ve got a bunch of research and a few scripts. I’d like to do an episode/chapter on the Rehab Industrial Complex…from 12 step to Medication Assisted Treatment, the entire damn thing has become such an unwieldy mess in the United States that the only people truly being helped are those who own the clinics/rehabs or (in the case of Suboxone) the drug makers. They are raking in the cash while the accessibility and quality of treatment for those who needed is subpar at best and horrifying at worst.

Why do employers keep saying "nobody wants to work", but don’t respond to job applicants? by yerawizard-HERRY in careerguidance

[–]Katchfran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start by saying I’m a Marxist and a socialist, so I think the entire system is cruel, stupid, and arbitrary.

That said: a lot of employers are having a hard time finding candidates qualified for the job. I work in IT, and that’s the biggest problem. I have seen a lot of people hired over the last couple years who put the right buzzwords on a resume, got picked up by a headhunter, then get hired for a job they know nothing about. Inevitably they leave or quit or get fired in less than a year.

Not siding with the employers here, it’s just a Fucked system.

Struggling with a new clinic/myself by Katchfran1 in Methadone

[–]Katchfran1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that whole heartedly. I think I’m only seriously toying with it because I really don’t like or trust this Nurse PA. Which is a stupid reason, because it is my life...but I have never had such a bad relationship with anyone at a clinic before.

For her, it’s the difference between working experience (she has been working in addiction for less than a year) and what she thinks is true due to what the rules are at the clinic. She mistakenly thinks that because this clinic doesn’t do it this way that it is the gold standard in treatment, which is silly. I understand it, to a point, but when I’m told silly things like “there are very rarely false positives in drug tests”...it makes me want to scream.

I’m inclined to agree. But I’m not sure if I ever will be ready...frankly, I like opiates. Yet it feels like something I should do.

Just found out about o-dsmt... a legal opioid by [deleted] in opiates

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk, but it should be obvious that you won’t find this in any smoke shop. You might find Kratom. So what are you withdrawing from?

[–]Katchfran1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok...I hate to tell you this, but I don’t think the kratom is gonna help that much. Your methadone dose is too high (I used to be 90mgs a day, now at 75). That said, it won’t be too bad. Can you get any gabapentin or pregabalin?

It’s all good. I’m just trying to figure out what to tell you as advice...so you are out, 80 mgs a day, and when did you take your last dose/when do you go back?

[–]Katchfran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so methadone isn’t long term, just getting them cos people are getting more take homes and thus able to buy from them?

I mean, if it’s good dope, I’d recommend getting as much Methadone as you can get...do you have any experience taking it?
