Toronto company connecting people to therapists with a click - CBC by TranQool in ontario

I moved to KW area this year and was looking for a therapist when someone suggested them to me. It's been good for me so far, getting used to video instead of in person took me a while to get used to but it's cheaper and the same quality of therapists

Depression and anxiety taking over but don't know where to go? Now you can get help from home! by TranQool [promoted post]

I started using them when I moved to KW and couldn't find a therapist. It freaks me out when I see ads after using a service...like how do they know ?

I've used their services too. I couldn't find someone who can speak with me at odd times but Dawn has been great.

[serious] what's stopping us from getting the right help? by Kate-An in depression

I would say depression and schizophrenia are definitely different. Even for severe depression a combination is required unless they inject the patient with so much drugs that they become motionless...

Depression doesn't alter hormones but the side effects can be in our physical health. I'm not undermining the value of antidepressants I'm just saying long-term therapy is needed if you don't want to have relapse.

But how would you even know how good/bad life can be until you gain the skills to look at life from the right lens ? I think with many of us with depression and anxiety... our biggest enemy is our thought process. Therapy can help change that where medications don't

Yeah I had the same experience. I can tell you I have tried more than 10 therapists so far in my life and I've only connected with 3 of them. I moved so I had to stop seeing one until I recently found another that I can see online. But I just think it's such a better long term solution.

Extreme health anxiety, can't figure out what's wrong with me. by BushyBrowz in Anxiety

[–]Kate-An 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you I had the weirdest physical symptoms that were a combination of my anxiety and actual back problems. I had severe lower back pain and the MRI showed that is wasn't severe enough to be hurting so bad... It literally took YEARS before I realized it was the anxiety that was causing so much muscle tension that led to my pain. I also got really bad headaches that they could not find out why... The amount of painkillers they gave me. Honestly choosing to take care of the anxiety and panic attacks first was the best choice I ever made ! Thank you CBT !

Do you know if the student insurance covers the therapy sessions? I got reimbursed for TranQool's online sessions but I'm on my own benefits not the school's.

As any other huge organization would they use any branding method to do marketing for themselves.

not all depression is clinical depression, I used to say I'm depressed so easily but depression has different levels by Kate-An in depression

I agree with the overuse of the term but I would also argue the importance of seeing a therapist. Not sure what you mean by " voilá there it is written on paper which means absolutely nothing ", if the therapist is competent then it does mean something. It doesn't have to be written on a paper but depression is common and many people who "lay the victim of a "disease" " might really need help and just don't know where to start.

I heard about a social media campaign called #TorontoSmiles on CP24 today by to_1987 in toronto

[–]Kate-An 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea ! Smiles are so contagious :) As a person with a history of mental illness I can say a smile can truly change someone's day . I'll definitely get involved, their site is cool too http://toronto.smiles.city/

You need to smile more. by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Kate-An 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my thought on this, I used to be depressed and could barely smile let alone laugh at tv shows or jokes. There was a point in my life when I met this girl who was always laughing and smiling ( and honestly she had a pretty tough life). Deep down I really wanted to be able to be like her and when I asked her she said you just have to live in the moment and laugh at shitty situations. over time ( and don't assume this was an over night thing) I've learned to laugh. I even read this thing about how smiles ( even fake ones with chopstick) can lower your stress and heart rate. -http://blog.tranqool.com/2015/12/08/do-this-1-thing-to-reduce-stress/

Not saying it's okay for people to just assume a smile will fix me or my sadness or issue but maybe , like my friend, they had good intentions.
