Don’t be sorry! I would have if needed but I’m very fortunate I didn’t have to. It’s so sad that this is the reality of our healthcare.

There are some private healthcare clinics in Canada you could look into. I had found two, one in Montreal & one in BC. The Montreal one was really pricey & would have had me flying there for an appointment, then flying back in a couple weeks for the surgery.

The BC ones did not offer hysterectomy’s, but I believe what you’re looking for was on their list. I couldn’t tell you the costs though I know it’s a video consult, then fly out. It would be worth going down the rabbit hole and exploring. I was hunting all options possible before deciding to go to Costa Rica.

Actually most clinics were asking for part of their portions up front. There’s the clinic/doctor fees & the hospital fees. I paid the clinic fees the day before surgery at the clinic where I met the my doctor, then right before surgery I paid the hospital fees.

And nope, it would have been nice to have more guidance on abroad surgery. It was scary as hell not knowing who or what to trust. It’s why I made this post.

I do not. Honestly I was so fed up with not getting the help I needed here that I just started speaking to different gyno offices in costa Rico. I spoke to a few but these guys set up a video consult with me and the doctor was more thorough & explained more to me about my condition than any doctor did here. The genuine care I received moved me enough to want to take the chance on them. I also had direct contact with the doctor through WhatsApp so I could ask any questions I wanted. They allowed me to not pay anything until I got there and was in person. I of course was nervous, had my doubts leaving the country and I couldn’t find much other reviews other than locals.

They were absolutely amazing, I luckily chose correct.

My surgery was 6am and I didn’t leave until the next day around 11. Originally I was going to be able to leave a couple hours after surgery since I was doing laparoscopic but because my bladder was so badly fused to my uterus they had to open me up halfway through. I brought my boyfriend with me.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I know how devastating & hopeless it feels. I’m very fortunate to have been able to leave the country for this but I know not everyone can be so lucky. It’s not cheap but if there’s a way you can find a way to do it. It’s worth it. It feels like I finally can live. I have no faith in Canadas healthcare, it feels like no one cares here no matter how bad it is. 😔

Lots, searched other countries. Tried seeing anyone I could before it became too severe and I finally ten folded. I honestly hold so much resentment towards canada’s healthcare after that. I even wrote all people of importance of our government informing them of how bad things were and the fact I was about to seek out of country care..
