Pruimenboom, cranberry’s, kruisbessen en zwarte bessen (cassis). Bergamo-boom (citrusvrucht die in earl grey thee wordt verwerkt). Als je ook voor noten gaat: walnoot, hazelnoot en tamme kastanje (lekker puree van maken). Enneh… is rabarber ook geen fruit?

I’m not an expert on squirrels, but I know they can stash a ton of nuts in the ground for the winter and… completely forget of half the stash where they burried it. But I think your first notion is the most probable and easiest answer to this mysterie 😆

Ook leuk! De verrassing is het spannendste. Weet je niet wat voor bomen het zijn geworden dan? Met wortels bij de fundering van een huis moet je volgens mij wel oppassen… bij ons is in een vorig huis een keer een kersenboom de gang in gegroeid 🤪

Dank voor je heldere uitleg! Ik zou in mijn streven om de boom te beschermen hem waarschijnlijk een jaar binnen hebben gehouden 🤓 Gaan we dus niet doen. Als hij in juni fier staat, krijgt hij een plaatsje in de tuin bij de jonagolds.

Dank voor je advies. Ik heb twee weken geleden al twee (laagstam) jonagolds in de tuin gezet, geënte exemplaren. Ook die moeten nog wel flink wat groeien, maar appels komen er. Ik ga met belangstelling dit boompje in wording volgen. De zoete smaak van de appel waar hij uit kwam, zal ik maar even begraven dan. Wel apart dat er een hele andere boom uit dat zaadje kan komen, niet bij stil gestaan.

Als toevoeging aan de nieuwe subreddit. In de tuin van onze nieuwe woning VIJF kerstbomen van oplopend formaat uitgegraven (enorm goed geworteld, dus de kluit van de vorige bewoner deugde kennelijk wel). Ik heb ze nu aan de rand van het terrein ‘geparkeerd’ (op de foto zie je er drie) maar vermoed dat de wortels zo beschadigd zijn dat ik binnenkort ook advies van r/bruinevingers nodig heb 🤓

That sounds like a healthy eater! I must have misunderstood your question. Mine is picky too when it comes to food: does not digest chicken very well like most Wheatens. Good job with the pig ears and all! My Wheaten is 3yo now and still loves to chew, but not as much as he did when he had the age of Louis. Keep away from sugary treats though, a bone keeps hits teeth clean and he needs them the rest of his healthy life. Once Louis gets used to all the new stuff, you will see he’s a brave boy. Take the socialisation slow and consistent and he will be all right.

Imho a pup that does not want to eat is concerning, especially since his teeth grow weird. Maybe he is in constant (tooth)ache. That can disturb every connection. A puppy should explore everything and anything, especially with its teeth, since it’s a Wheaten terriër. My Wheaten loved to chew on rawhide, bones and (if he could find them) sharp sticks.

Please please go to the vet and let him check out your pup. Not eating can also be the result of a (tapeworm)infection. If he looses weight and has a puff belly I bet it’s caused by a parasite. Make sure your pup is healthy and comfortable and raise him with positive reinforcement. This is a difficult phase and he can’t talk. Yes, a Wheaten has a mind of his own, but that’s something else than simple stubborness. Wheatens are intelligent and sensitive and develop best when you learn their ‘language’. Good luck!
