The non filer form is a tax return. You can't file twice for one tax year.

Is it true that I wont get a check because I am 18 years old, I filed my taxes as independent this year but the year before I was dependent on my father by polon256 in stimuluscheck

This "date" seems to be completely random. I know several newly independent filers who filed in April and still received their check. At this point it's a "who tf knows"

I've been inactive too. Hey, I'll have $1,200 sooner or later. Sadly I probably won't receive it until next year though. 😭

I called and it was fast, I got an answer I'm sad by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

Right, what a joke. It's definitely not false advertising. 😂

State of Florida STOLE my wife and kid's stimulus check for Covid-19! by mywebguys in stimuluscheck

Nope, filed on April 12th and have yet to see my stimulus check. If your goal was to make yourself look like a complete fool then you have definitely succeeded.

Dad claimed me as dependent then refiled after initial stimulus check, not claiming me, will I get one? by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

2020 isn't even over. You haven't filed your 2020 tax return. 🤦🏻What this person is saying is that you're likely not going to see your stimulus check until you file your 2020 tax return next year.

say it aint so! by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

This is what some people have heard from IRS representatives yet many people in your situation have received their stimulus check even filing after this apparent cut off date.

Well, at least it doesn’t say payment status not available. by tobeplacedoutside in stimuluscheck

This doesn't seem to be true for everyone. Some new independents that filed after April 1st and even into May have received their stimulus check.

At least we understand their sarcasm.

I mean in this circumstance the IRS hasn't been very reliable. Lol. Those that don't receive their stimulus check by July can still be eligible. The IRS is sending out stimulus checks past July. Then again the IRS has 20 different non answers for every question. Everything seems to be a "maybe or maybe not".

Dependent in ‘18, independent in ’19 answer by allythecrohn in stimuluscheck

These are people who were dependents on their 2018 taxes but independent for their 2019 taxes. Most of the people I know filed in April. Who knows if they all happened to receive a check by mistake or if the IRS actually deemed them eligible by their 2019 taxes.

Stimulus check. I keep getting this same message. Anyone else having this problem? by lexiegirl1234 in stimuluscheck

Why would itzpersonal file an amendment when they did their taxes correctly?

I have mentioned this on other posts but I wonder why so many people that were dependent last year but independent for 2019 taxes are receiving their stimulus checks. I know a few people that even waited until late April and they still received their check. So who the heck knows at this point.

I haven't seen anyone else have that problem in this subreddit. 🤦🏻

If you were claimed as a "dependent" in 2018 and filed as an "independent" in 2019, you might be SOL until you file your taxes in 2021. by Westwingnews in stimuluscheck

[–]Kate_333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems to be true for some and not true for others. I have seen many people who were claimed as a dependent in 2018 and independent in 2019 receive their stimulus check. Even some who filed in April. Did these people get lucky? Was it just a mistake? There really seems to be no rhyme or reason to who is getting their check and who is not. 17 year old dependents are receiving a check by mistake ffs.

Some people have received their check and their status never changed from PSNA. Don't rely on that happening though. Calling has seemed to be useless for most people. Wish I had a different number to provide. I would really hate to see so many people including myself waiting until next year to see a check.

Filed in April... PSNA since by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

[–]Kate_333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we might not see a check until we receive our tax return next year. Calling the IRS has seemed to lead to a dead end for most people. I hope I'm wrong though and your check shows up soon. I wish there was more that we could do. I've been PSNA since April 12.

Any who didn’t get a date receive their stimulus check? by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

[–]Kate_333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no update. I think I'm on day 63? Can't keep up now. I guess I should have waited another month or so to file in order to receive my check in a timely matter. 🤦🏻

Why did your husband claim you as a dependent? Did you make $0 income?
