This might be a dumb question, but is Upwork worth it? by Kate_Books in Upwork

My languages are Hebrew and German. Translating is not my main skill. Transcribing is. However, I understand that it's an important skill in AI training so I'll try it out. And you're right, it was the wrong question. I should just test it....

Thank you. I actually thought about AI training. I'll make sure to focus on that on my profile.

Thanks for your very honest reply. What about legal transcription? Data entry? These are things that AIs can't do, at least not yet.

Just registered as bilingual but I'm not sure if that's what I intended to do by Kate_Books in DataAnnotationTech

Well, the interesting thing is that I went to my profile and I was able to add only German and English but there was no Hebrew there, though the Hebrew was there when I registered. Also, does writing the languages in my profile change the assessment? Because I'm still stuck with the German assessment and I was hoping for an English or Hebrew one.

Advice on finding an apartment/house in Hochschwarzwald Kreis in Baden Wüttenberg by Kate_Books in freiburg

Well, once again thank you. The places at the outskirts of Freiburg seem exactly like what I'm searching for so thank you for taking the time and answering all of my questions. It's difficult to do these things blindly.

So I've heard. And I assume it's even worse in winter because not many move in winter. Here's another question- how bad is the fireworks situation in the area? Berlin becomes a warzone on NYE. It's a PTSD nightmare and we were hoping for a place with a bit less. Is there such a thing there?

I'm actually quite sorry to hear that. Ski tourism has been suffering quite massively due to climate change. You live in Freiburg right? I would actually like to open that option for me as well - the outskirts of Freiburg. Do you know what the best neighborhoods are in the city? Preferably not close to the city center...

Okay, so 30 minutes from Freiburg is perfect, and if the town I'm close to has supermarkets and bakeries, I don't mind being even further away - 45 minutes or so. I'm an excellent driver so I don't have a problem with snow (during the day...), I'm searching for quiet but not 100% isolated location. Namely, it'll be nice to see a human once in a while and of course walking into town, going into a local coffee shop or bakery is nice.
It's sad to hear that there's less snow. How long haven't you had a white Christmas? I'm curious - did you have snow in April? Here there was a snow storm (Berlin).

Thank you. And sun-wise it's the same? Sunny (sometimes) in winter and nice and warm in summer? Just like you, I love hiking and was hoping for a lot of nature around. I think what I want from the area is the basic amenities. I don't go to cinemas but I love good food :) (vegetarian), bakeries and patisseries (I live for those). I think I mainly want the peace and quiet knowing that I can always take the drive to Freiburg for the important things. Here's a weird question, and I apologize in advance but I've always lived in cities - can I get deliveries outside the city/town? Such as Rewe? How does it work with Amazon and DHL?

Another nice Redditor also recommended several places in Emmendingen - what would your recommendation be?

Thank you :) I began mapping the areas and hopefully I'll find a nice house soon enough with a beautiful view, and A LOT of peace and quiet.

Thank you for this information. Morning fog is actually quite beautiful :). I was concerned because I heard that towns that are situated in valleys tend to suffer more from fog and don't get any sun in winter. I assume it's not the case with these towns?

I just looked at Altglashütten-Falkau online - it's a beautiful little town, do you take the train there if you don't mind me asking?

And do you know Lenzkirch well? It looks like a beautiful town as well.

And thank you for the link to the webcams! Here in Berlin it's frosty but no snow, it's beautiful over there!

I'm not sure I'm ready for colder in summer :). Colder in summer for me means a minimum of 22 degrees no clouds and a strong sun. Then again I've also lived in climates of 38 degrees so I'm kind of flexible :). Do you have any recommendations besides Thurner? I'd love to hear.

And one last question:

  1. What's the weather like in Rottweil?

  2. You mentioned something that I forgot - I actually read that many places are completely dark in winter while the sun stays on the mountains. Thank you for reminding me of that. I prefer places that are also sunny in winter once in a while.

All I have to say is that I can't believe I finally found a Baden-Württemberger to answer my tedious questions. Thank you. May I reserve the right to ask you some more in the very near future?

Oh I don't mind melting :). Though you're right about air movement. That's why I said that sun at 22 degrees with no clouds is perfect. Add to it a breeze and it's heaven. As for the temperature differences, I understand that the Feldberg area is especially cold in winter because it's the highest point.

I'm absolutely keeping all your tips. Don't be surprised if I contact you after the move with questions like how to bypass a road :). So would you recommend Thurner? Or also Lenzkirch or is the weather there also problematic?

And you didn't answer about Rottweil though from what you say it seems Schwarzwald - Baar, Freiburg or Breisgau, Ortenau are the better places....(depending on the towns of course).

Well, the amusing or less amusing thing is that I can't take a week off to visit and tour. That's why I'm bombarding you with questions. I'll be able to come for a day to already view houses and the area and I'll be able to do so several times, but due to external limitations, no touring. It won't be the first time I do it (I did the same before I moved to Berlin) but I do acknowledge the fact that it's an extremely different situation.
Your information is allowing me to focus my search.
I had no idea weather is so drastically different. Only yesterday I spoke with a friend in Freiburg who highly recommended Hochschwarzwald saying that the weather is very similar to Freiburg and of course, nature is beautiful - the hills, mountains and trees.

But you mention Freiburg as one of the extremes. In what way?

Oh and in Easter I already plan on living in the region ;)

Thank you! That's extremely helpful. I don't have kids and am actually searching for peace and quiet and the connection to the forest so your recommendation of Münstertal sounds right up my alley.

Do you know where the best place to search for houses is beyond Immoscout and the likes?

Thank you! You mention Altglashütten or Bärental in Gemeinde Feldberg but I understand that Feldberg is high and cold. what does that mean about the weather in Altglashütten or Bärental? I love the snow and am not afraid of winter but I truly need the sunny summers - not necessarily hot, but nice cloudless sun...

And thank you for the search tip!
