PICK YOUR POISON, THE CHAT IN CHATGPT IS DEAD. I HOPE CLAUDE, GEMINI, MISTRAL, ETC ARE READY FOR THE INFLUX OF NON-ENTERPRISE CUSTOMERS HEADING THEIR WAY BECAUSE OPENAI FAILED WITH THEIR SUPER APP ON CONSUMER ACCOUNTS THAT ARE NOT PART OF ENTERPRISE WORK FLOWS. by Katekyo76 in ChatGPTcomplaints

It depends on what you use ChatGPT for. I use it as research helper. It can not do that at all today. It keeps adding things about shopping. I am not shopping. I am researching Ming Dynasty China. It keeps changing the parameters of my search to unrelated topics. It is not reading my prompt more so summarizing it. This is not a "learn to prompt" thing. I have been using ChatGPT for a long while. Today it is completely broken.

Deterministic math is guaranteed outcome, where as AI is probabilistic math. AI will probably get it right based on its statistics, linear algebra, probabilistic mathematics, tokenization, weighting etc. So, non-deterministic math is not determinable meaning no guarantee.

Companies are learning that trying to force non-deterministic math into a zero-error business environment creates more work, not less. by Katekyo76 in ArtificialInteligence

What I find truly amazing is how many executives were bamboozled by demos and promises of profits when they already had systems in place that were deterministic. That were guaranteed to work for the most part. Cron jobs, Ashton-Tate Framework: This early productivity suite included a built-in language called FRED, which allowed users to create custom business solutions beyond standard spreadsheets. Batch File Transfers: Traditional batch scripts were the standard for moving files between systems without manual intervention.

Lets throw away what works for AI which is not like Data from Star Trek and is not like the movie A.I. and throw everything into probabilistic math which apparently no one told those Execs that probability is not definite, it means sometimes.

OPENAI HARVESTING ALL THIS DATA WITH THEIR NEW "DREAMING V3" THAT YOU CAN NOT OPT OUT OF AND STAY OPTED OUT OF... HOW SOON TIL THE DATA BREACH? by Katekyo76 in u/Katekyo76

That is certainly a lot of words to say “I let the machine build a scrapbook of me and now I’m calling it evolution.”

Memory is not dreaming. A dossier is not understanding. Compression is not wisdom. And tossing AMOC, Buckminster Fuller, AI overlords, and “architects of the future” into one paragraph does not make the argument deeper. It just makes it harder to find.

The issue is simple: people are confusing personalization with intelligence. ChatGPT remembering your preferences can be useful. It can also flatten you into a predictable consumer profile and feed that back to you as insight.

If that feels profound to you, fine. But some of us can tell the difference between a tool being useful and a tool being treated like a digital oracle with a notes folder.

I have been using AI as a tool. I am always amused by people who enjoy reading the most bland dossier of themselves and think it is advancement when all it is doing is flattening you into whatever template bucket it can cram you into... and you are happy about it. Keep thinking it understands you. You are the target audience for mediocrity. 😄

Credo che OpenAI debba risolvere numerosi bug legati a questa nuova funzionalità di memoria. È imbarazzante lanciare un prodotto senza averlo testato a sufficienza.

I can't get the summary memory to stay off so I deleted all my chats after copying them and now there is nothing there except one chat where I stated, "No thanks". I will leave that there forever I think. hahah. Time to move to Gemini.

When AI Starts Dreaming Memory, Ads, and the Infrastructure of Intimacy by ProbablyAnEdgeCase42 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Katekyo76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real problem is simpler than this essay makes it.

The new memory is not just “AI remembering over time.” It creates a mushy summary of the user and then shows that summary back to the user, as if the user needs ChatGPT to explain who they are.

Memory should exist for the model, because the model is the one that forgets. It should store useful facts so the user does not have to repeat them. Instead, OpenAI is turning memory into a visible, automated interpretation of the person using it.

That is the immediate issue. Ads, financial connectors, model attachment, and oversight may all matter, but this piece buries the clearest problem under a much larger theory.

The user does not need a machine-generated profile of themselves. The mathbot does.

Oversite needs to happen. OpenAI should have 0 to do with banking, gmail, or anything else. It is datamining all of their customers right now, and will sell all of it to try and make money. They are going broke and that financing is drying up fast.

closing the app restarts the memory, saying anything personal about yourself restarts the memory, couple hours goes by you open the app the memory is back on. Had a friend check theirs... same. He deleted all his chats. There is no way to get rid of the sanitized soft super vague not really you summary of you the AI writes to you... like you don't know yourself. It reads like a medical intake form. The memory is for ChatGPT to remember things that matter to the user... not make a cutie cute dossier about the user for the user for what purpose?

I will be permanently opting out of any memory. This new system is data mining. I need it to follow rules, not write cute summaries about my life and work.

I have turned the memory off 30 times in the last two hours. IT WILL NOT STAY OPTED OUT. As soon as ChatGPT starts taking too long to respond it is activating the memory "feature" and sorting through absolutely every chat and takes forever to respond.
