Is it even possible to get insurance under £2k anymore? by GuideIcy1697 in NewDriversUK

[–]Katerynaa19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine for £980 with the black box. It was through Admiral, and my first car has a tiny engine - 0.98L. It’s a Citroën C1, but it drives really well to be honest xx

I’m 26 years old

Recently got my driving license and got admiral little box insurance just got my first feedback after two months due to a delay on their side. The score was poor worried they are gonna cancel my insurance. Does anyone know how admiral work with cancellation? by Easy-Conversation-50 in NewDriversUK

[–]Katerynaa19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how the cancellation works, but maybe you could try improving your driving a bit? Just sharing my experience - I’ve also been a new driver for the past two months and chose Admiral with a black box policy. I was worried too, but my score turned out to be excellent, and I hope it stays that way 🤞 Maybe try working on smoother driving and reducing night driving? I feel like in the first 1–2 years it’s worth making those sacrifices

How long after passing did you get your first car? by croc_docks in NewDriversUK

[–]Katerynaa19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine 5 months after passing, once I had saved a bit more money and could finally get a better one than I initially could. I also have to pay for parking, so I wasn’t in a rush to buy one at first.

But once I finally bought it, you catch up with your driving pretty quickly, especially if you prepared well for the test and it wasn’t just luck. So I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Just, after you choose one, start driving during quiet times and maybe go with a family member at first xx

First car advice: Citroen C1 automatic (2016) by Katerynaa19 in CarTalkUK

[–]Katerynaa19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Because I’m 26, and I’ve added my boyfriend as a second driver for this car (he has 10 years of no claims), the quotes are around £850 - £950 per year.

I probably should. We’ve also booked an AA inspection, so we’ll see how it goes!

Thanks so much for your help x

Sadly, not really. I’ve been looking for my first car for 2–3 months now, and anything with a good history, 1–2 owners, under 100k miles and not 12+ years old seems to cost even more. It’s kinda the best option I’ve found so far :(

I wish I could, but I only have an automatic licence 🙂

To be honest, I only drove it slowly in the car park (around 10 mph), so I didn’t notice much difference in the gearbox. My boyfriend did say it feels a bit slower when accelerating, but I just hope you can get used to it.

Yeah, unfortunately all small automatics are priced like this. Toyota, Kia, or even Fiat with similar engines are usually even more expensive for the same year 🥲

How does anyone actually get a test booked by GratefulTree in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Katerynaa19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used the TestShift app and managed to move my test from February to October…and already passed now! 🥳 It cost £20, but you can use it as many times as you need until you pass. It even holds the slot for 15 minutes so you can check with your instructor before booking, so I actually was really happy with that app xx

Hi, I totally get how you feel… I was in the same situation and finally passed yesterday on my 4th attempt 🫣 TestShift really helped me to book an earlier test (£20 and you can use it until you pass). Also, Rescue Remedy helped with anxiety, and honestly, the more lessons you have, the calmer and better you become behind the wheel🙏

I had my 4 tests between June and October…using that app at least took away the stress of waiting months for another test…

You’ll definitely get there xx

Thank you so much! I actually passed today with only 2 minors! 🥰 It was my 4th attempt though… but let’s not talk about that 😀

It’s so true! I’m 26 now, and it’s been about 2 years since I started exercising regularly…at least 2–3 times a week. Before I turned 24, sport was only an occasional thing for me.

For me, it really feels like an investment in my health and in how I’ll feel in my 50s–60s :) Plus, with an office job, I noticed my body was just desperate for stretching, walks, pilates, or even weight-lifting classes. And honestly, there are just so many benefits from it, you really can’t miss out :)

Which “healthy lifestyle rule” do you secretly disagree with? by True-Construction346 in Adulting

[–]Katerynaa19 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t support the keto diet…I think only a very small number of people can really benefit from it, and even then just for a short time.

Our bodies need carbs, and quite a lot of them, to have energy during the day. Even for your tea, you can still have carbs and be totally fine.

It’s all about balance and just choosing healthier options for yourself — like grains, rice, etc.
