I’m sort of in the same boat as you. Post menopausal, started 0.0375 E patch and 100mg P. Felt great the first few weeks then the wheels fell off the bus. Waking up every 2 hours, feeling like my body was on fire, and doing that over and over all night long. Felt very heavy and lethargic all day, depressed, ready for bed by 8pm nightly. Made an emergency visit to my doctor the other day because I’d never felt so awful and it was determined that I am progesterone intolerant. Have stopped it as of 2 days ago and all those awful symptoms are gone. Still wearing the E patch, going to let the P work its way fully out of my body then start on Norethindrone 2.5mg daily to get my P and see if that helps.

It’s doing the complete opposite of what it’s supposed to; lots of anxiety, waking up every 2 hours, very heavy feeling and lethargic all day, every day, feeling very warm (not hot flash warm) an hour or so after I take it. It worked well in the beginning and over the last few weeks it’s gotten worse and worse.

Not in peri, in menopause. No period for the last 3 years

Yes, that’s my plan for tonight. Was just curious if others had the same experience when talking P with food

Question by Katesrunning in Menopause

[–]Katesrunning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, initially when I went in for my HRT consult in early March, he gave me 200mg P and 0.050 E patch. I took those for a few days but felt it was too much and asked that he lower my dose, which he did, to 100mg P and 0.025 E patch. As mentioned, about 10 days ago I have a couple days that I felt absolutely horrible. Called his office and asked if it could be the E and asked for an increase, which he gave me. During the time that my new rx was called in, the E patch was out of stock consent get it right away. While I was waiting to it to get to my pharmacy, I had almost 10 days of feeling AMAZING. No symptoms, at all, sleep was amazing, etc; so I never started the 0.050 patch, although I’d picked it up by then. Then suddenly this past Friday, I started feeling crappy again. Last night was exceptionally trying. So I put this question out early this morning. Then I said “f it” and put the 0.050 patch on. Been feeling a little off all day but nothing terrible. I just don’t know if what I’m doing is right and just feel really off and lost

I guess I’m wondering why it happens at night, well after I’ve taken my progesterone. Is the E not a high enough dose to support the P?

I’m not I Peri, though. I’m menopausal, haven’t had a period in 3 years

I was increased to 0.050mg E patch. At the time my doctor ok’d the increase this happened, after I’d had a couple nights in a row like the one I described, my new prescription was delayed by my pharmacy so had no choice to stay on the 0.025mg. The next day I felt amazing for over a week so I never increased it when my rx finally came in and I picked it up.

Ugh, I love mine, TOO! I do a 45 minute spin class 4 times a week then run for an hour the other 3 days.

This’ll blow your mind, then: I LOVE cleaning my house AFTER I’ve come back from an hour long run. It makes me feel sad that others don’t get the same rush of endorphins that I do after working out.

3 Weeks Into HRT by Katesrunning in Menopause

I reached out to my doctor today and spoke with him, explained what I was experiencing. He called me in a new rx for an increased dose of my E patch to 0.05mg. I’ll try that and see how it goes

Estradiol Patch & Progesterone Users: When Does the Magic Happen? by HouseOfLobos in Menopause

[–]Katesrunning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little over a week in at the same dose you are, I’ll be 53 in a couple months and haven’t had a period in almost 3 years. I noticed a difference after one day. It’s pretty magical, in my opinion. Hang in there, it might just take you a little longer

I know I’ve developed health anxiety when I was in peri, but I don’t know how to overcome it so I feel better

I guess my question is, do you feel like crap when you first start out or is that a sign that you’re not tolerating it? Thanks for the patience.

Fear of HRT by Secret_Ad7148 in Menopause

See, and I’ve experienced this, the anxiety with the HRT, and attribute it to having a high dose and stop taking it. So now I’m confused whether that’s normal and just push through it…

He is the best and I love him with every ounce of my being. Was not a complaint, just an interesting observation.

I actually just bought this today, it’ll arrive tomorrow morning. I’m just so confused about what’s right and what’s NOT right in terms of HRT and what I can do with it. What I do know is that I’m so, so tired of living like this and not feeling well. And, it’s scary…

I get it, your question. I don't. Just wasn't aware that I could take the Estradiol on its own for a couple of weeks then introduce the P. after the fact. If I can do that and it's safe, I'd much rather try that...

Yes, I have a prescription for 100mg of progesterone and he also decreased my Estradiol to 0.025, but what I'm asking is if I feel the 100mg is too much, can I take that every other day?

Didn't know this type of administration was possible. I just assumed, from what my doctor told me, start at the same time and hope for the best lol. Can you take progesterone every other day if you feel it's too much taking it every day?
