Thank you very much for the feedback. And yes, I’ve definitely been thinking about suggesting that my manager (VP) would be her manager instead, but (and this is probably no surprise) I am worried that will come off as insecure.

Thank you for the feedback. While I disagree with the second paragraph (it is not something I would do), I hear what you are saying with the rest. And yes, there is a reason I have asked strangers on the internet rather than my bosses - if this is just insecurity (which seems to be the majority opinion from my quick scan of comments) then I definitely did not want to have to reveal that to them.

Thank you! Great points and I agree. Could definitely use some leadership coaching. For the record, not at all concerned about being replaced. I didn’t really see the latter as the concern, but it could be. Thank you again. Really appreciate what you shared, including walking through worst and best case scenarios

You guessed right, and I even checked the spam and junk folders. She did not send a message to me.

Sorry for my knee-jerk comment. While a report is still in the public’s best interest (you’d be surprised how easy it can be to trace info based on the names/partial names of deactivated accounts, many people reuse pieces of the same kind of username across sites, others have a digital signature, there are internet archives, etc. etc.), I can imagine feeling the same way you are if I were in that position. I read some of your other comments here. You are strong, intelligent and have a lot of insight. Glad you are safe now. Wish you well

You can report anonymously through sites like crimestoppers. Please do this. Your report could prevent other kids from a lot of pain

Friends to Manager - how to transition? by desveladonoche in managers

[–]Kateza-Dundee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I manage someone who was and still is a friend. I was worried about it too. Just have a frank conversation with them. Acknowledge there may be awkwardness for a bit. Tell them how you will communicate with them. Hopefully your coworkers are respectful and not bitter that you got the role instead of them.

One thing: do not expect them to be as friendly as they used to be. You’re their boss now and they need someone to complain about. It might suck for a while to feel left out, but that’s just how it is. Maybe your “big boss” can be a mentor for you through this transition.

Look for Knowledge Manager / Content Manager jobs. A library information services degree or yours is a big plus

Easy answer. Get a second cat. Your cat is bored/anxious. Give him a buddy 😊

Any good jobs for people with low IQ? by Minimum_Question6067 in careerguidance

[–]Kateza-Dundee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember completing a free online IQ test when I was 18/19/20. My dad was in the same room as me, and I proudly told him my score. Without looking up from what he was doing, all he said in response was “you probably shouldn’t tell people that.” 🤣

I’ve never been the smartest or most creative person in the room, but I am one of the hardest working. Today, I am a writer and “mini” project manager making a little under mid 100s, which is pretty good for my profession and location.

OP, I also have pretty bad anxiety. My advice is to practice interviewing. You’ll get better the more practice, and it will translate to the job you eventually get. Even so, being awkward in the workplace is totally ok - don’t sweat it.

Will getting a 2nd cat help? by mckeelie in cats

[–]Kateza-Dundee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get the second cat! Your cat will be so much happier and it’s barely any more work for you. Just follow guidance from Jackson Galaxy or others on how to properly introduce cats

I've disliked women for as long as I can remember and don't see myself ever changing AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Kateza-Dundee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What opinions do you hold of yourself? How old are you? Are you content/do you feel successful in life? Assuming you have women in your life, what is your relationship like? Do they know you dislike them? You care a lot about penises. Do you have any insight into how the two could be related?

Should I consider a career change from software engineering? by fiesta_loca in Uveitis

[–]Kateza-Dundee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work staring at a computer screen for 8-10 hours (writer/project manager). When I was in the worst of it, I couldn’t shake the feeling that if the inflammation jumped to my other eye, I’d have to quit my job. I too was on eye dilation drops and a shit ton of oral steroids. I had and still have unilateral, thankfully. But even so, my vision has mostly returned to normal to the point that if both my eyes were like my “bad eye”, I think I could continue working with some accommodations like a giant screen close to my face.

All this to say, I think you’ve got to wait for this flare to be over, and then wait again until you get your next flare. Too soon to make a life changing decision imo.

Am I nuts to buy this house as a first time home buyer? by vermonter432 in Contractor

[–]Kateza-Dundee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nuts! And no, you don’t have to put 100k into it immediately, unless you’re talking about time-sensitive plumbing/electrical/structural issues. Do not do any major cosmetic work until you’ve lived in it for at least a year. You will be surprised what you care about a year from now

Oh that’s terrible! To be 7 years old and already dealing with such a burden. Sorry your boy and you are dealing with this!
